Flashlight Reality Show

Got this idea after reading Match's Mods givewaway. If he were doing these mods to motorcycles, he'd be rich and they'd make a reality show about him ;) .

How about pitching a show idea to a channel: "Flashaholics". I think it'd last about 1 episode, but I'd watch it (lmao)!

Send in your demo tape! I think Match would be the clear winner, with Old 45-70 runner up. They could show fishinfool on his computer all day long making sure to give a friendly greeting to all newcomers (and up his post count). Yeah, the producers would have to stage some "accidental" booms of unprotected cells for ratings, lol.

No, wait. They'd have to get Greta in on the action. She'd make sure to negotiate a big salary, too, being the biggest woman in flashlights. She and her "son" dm51 could finally come out of the closet as an item? Paid extra for the exclusive reveal? Maybe they could orchestrate another great server failure for drama. There would be great idle banter while they sat around waiting for a brilliant member to slave away and fix their problem for free. You know, so they could go back to hosting the biggest and friendliest flashlight forum on the planet.

For the season finale, they'd have: "The Confrontation". Where they get BLF members and CPF members together for a tense convention, each group sticking to their own sides like cryps and bloods, occasionally taunting with their flashlights. One side mocking the other for their cheap piece of Chinese crap, and the other for paying more of their paycheck than an alkie pays for booze, to put out the same amount of light. Scenes of CPF huddles with biggest-donor mods barking team strategies to the obeissant minions, the BLF a disorganized, leaderless, (perhaps not so well-informed) but happy crew. The final scene, a resolution of conflict: one massive tug-of-war game, over a mudpit, Greta bringing up the rear on one side.

Who would win?

I was thinking something along the lines of "AMerica's Got Lumens" where you could bring your stock or modded light, they turn down all the set lights and you get to show off your stuff (another reason we are called Flashaholics)

They could have Greta be the SImon Cowell of the judges

Love it.

LOL!

How about "challenges" and "eliminations"? Seems most "reality" shows are now actually game shows.

The BLF and CPF camps show up at a rented mansion, there's 1 too few beds, and a CPF member and BLF member have to bicker about who has to sleep in a closet. Plenty of booze, balconies, and electrical outlets.

People could bring their wares to the show. Don would bring his whole rucksack filled with several hundred lights (and batteries to go with them), each of them not worth over $28USD in value due to value-crushing import taxes.

Any idea for "challenges" and "eliminations"? REALLY exciting stuff like putting a light meter at 200 yards and shining your spear chukkr, er, thrower, downrange. Split screen while the BLF member tries to measure up on his severely modded $12 light, against the CPF $400 out-of-box object of perfection, as the remote meter's value shows up. REALLY exciting. LOL.

Okay, so they'd have to take a different approach. Maybe make it more akin to the "J@ck*ss" show (obscuring per owner's preference to avoid tripping family-values content filters). Tie 2 flashlights to the handlebars of a bike, veer it off-road into a park, and see how many think a car's coming right for them. Considering, scratch that idea.

fantastic idea, love it. The CPF members would show up looking homeless with the totes full of $100+ lights and the BLF folks would show up with soldering irons and DMMs to fix a light on the spot that broke during transport due to poor QC. LOL :)

LiPo battery explosions on the road side as a prank to see how many cars actually slow down to the speed limit...

How about a Flashaholic magazine ? There are several online magazines , like the Overclocker ! any one subscribe to the Overclocker ?

Or Budget Light Magazine ?

Now a online magazine that could be downloaded ? Now that would be Doable , and it could be done from your home ...

I wouldn't say I'd be the clear winner in a modding contest.. There's lots of good talent here, for example:

-Old4570 is the only guy I know to stuff TWO xmls into a P60 drop-in, and Tido figured out how to reprogram drivers to allow for any flavor of modes. Not to mention okwchin, sixfink, dorpmuller, oldbobk, and others who've all turned out fantastic work.

I like the "America's got Lumens" title...it's catchy! I'd also be all in for a good 'ol fashioned tug-of-war... having the losers sport either a "Surefire Stinks" or " I <3 DM51" in the sig line, whichever is more apropos.

What about a show called "Pimp my Flashlight". You are from CPF and your $100 flashlight don't go over 200 lumen. You call "Pimp my flashlight" and Match come to your house. In less then one hour you have a 3800 Lumen flashlight... I could watch this channel for hour..

Which reminds me of a recent WTS where DM51 dropped into a thread with a user selling maglites in the custom forum. He told the user to remove 2/3 mags because they were not "custom", and the user then responded by "customising" the mags with 16mm GITD o-rings around the emitter! Thats got to be worthy for a mod! Could put that into a show!

Wonderful idea. I might even have to get a TV (And buy a licence) to see it.

The TV Licensing people are now threatening to get a search warrant to see if I have a TV or not. Which I neither have nor want.

Their second last missive told me "What to expect in court". I've got one for them labelled what to expect in court when your CEO is summoned to court in Scotland for trying to serve an English search warrant in Scotland (The legal systems are different and an English warrant is irrelevant and completely invalid in Scotland), breach of the peace, impersonation of a law officer, defamation, harassment (We have the world's toughest anti-harassment laws) and anything else a retired judge can think of. Might be fun. But hopefully not for Capita who like to believe they are an arm of the Government (Licence enforcement was privatised to the lowest bidder 30 years ago). The summons I will serve on the (Pick your favourite set of obscene derogatory terms) however, will be valid where the slimeball lives.

A search warrant to see if you have a TV? Where I'm from, the warrant server would be met with daddy's over-and-under.

They're implying it's on you to prove you don't have a TV when in fact, it's on them to prove that you do. So, they're getting a judge to help them do that. The world gets stranger every day.

"She and her "son" dm51 could finally come out of the closet as an item?"

I now have to clean my computer screen. Shoulda known better than to drink coffee while reading this post. lol

I could see a competition with uf 980's. Turn them on and see who can hold onto them the longest - bare handed of course
