Taking things to extremes..

+1. I came across Surefire in 2005 which started off as the “Newport Corporation” in 1969, in 1979 as “Laser Products” and in 2000 with its current name. It has always been priced at a premium. But it’s marketing could really come closer down to earth.

I know Surefire makes a great flashlight. But they are way overpriced is all I’m saying. But those guys that want to pay the price is fine by me. I myself won’t.

Well, its not so much the Surefire issue for me. Admittedly I do find it humorous. Imagine if this post was in that other forum. How many people would have been banned for simply disagreeing?

I don’t think that’s fair to say or anything like the truth.

Just calling it like I see it. I’ve watched it first hand. Been a member there for a couple years now. Just choose to keep a low profile.

Actually, the $700 dollar toilet seat was quite a bargain. It was for the toilet in the unheated part of a military transport plane that got to like 30 below zero. It was a custom designed heated toilet set. Let’s see you design, tool up, and build just a few dozen custom, mil-spec toilet seats for less than $700 a pop. And let’s see you take a dump on a non-heated, 30 degrees below zero crapper…

Ain’t that the truth.

Yes, I am certain it was. LOL… I guess that hammer they paid $435 for was made by Surefire too!!!

The seats I was referring to were not any mil spec tootsie toasters…. They were just standard ole plastic rings…

And if the stealth bomber was built out of 24k gold, it would have been cheaper!

The truth is that in the other forum this thread would have been closed right after the first posts. But if people would have managed to post all this stuff there, I would not be surprised if some bans would follow: CPF Rules and FAQs

^ I, for one, won’t last 30 seconds.

Oh dear!! Are you allowed to hover? :~

ROTFL!

Lmao!! +1

You can try, butt a little untimely air turbulence and you could wind up frozen to the seat…

Great! Now I have a visual of an anime chic trying to hover in a C130 doing barrel rolls….

I think the hammer was a specially commissioned design made of a soft type of brass so as not to spark when used in environments close to explosives. I’m not sure that article claiming they were ‘plastic’ toilet seats can really be trusted either, it’s easy to make assumptions and I don’t see any references.

It’s generally the cheapest items where the waste is highest as there are relatively fixed costs in the ‘procurement’ of an item itself. You see the same in free prescriptions from the NHS in the UK; it generally costs over £20 in administration to obtain and give someone a prescription, whether that be for a £500 life-saving treatment, or for a 50p packet of hayfever tablets. The govt has now introduced a small fee (about £7) to put people off getting cheap things on prescription and just buy over the counter instead.

Still, it’ll always be the case that people are less careful when spending other peoples money.

Especially when its the government.

Not so fast, if you are getting Surefire just so you can own one to collect, I’m still going to disagree and say Uranusfire is better! When entertaining guests or going on a camping trips, which one will bring more jokes, enjoyment and entertainment to follow?!? Plus, there are many times fewer Uranusfire lights on the market, and they are likely to go out of business once someone in China figures out another possible meaning of their name, making them a much better collection point! Get your Uranusfires while you still can!
