Huh...it seems I can't vote. If the option existed, I'd vote for 3.

I feel not only 4 a bit cumbersome for a twisty, but also unneccessary. i.e. the difference between 40% and 100% isn't as great as it sounds. Visually (to me), the jump between 1% and 20% is much bigger, and on par with the jump from 15% to 100%.

I can't vote either. Frown

Bit weird, don't know how the poll got closed.

All fixed now. Thanks Mr. Admin!

I guess I can use %1 for reading, %10 for indoors, %40 for outdoors and %100 as a short burst. I usually find 14500 lights have too bright lows, while ok - dim with NiMHs. So I could use %10-%40-%100 with NiMH and %1 - %10 - %40 with 14500 for longer periods.

4 modes for me.

I guess i should have made this just 3 or 4 mode with no percentages as we can iron that out in the end. or do we just need more options added.

Voted 4-mode, because I am mainly interested in the clicky-version.

Sitll 4 modes for me :)

1. An ultra extended battery life, low low, which can only be used to read at 20-30cm away from your eyes.

2. A proper low that doesn't blind in the pitch black of night while your mates are sleeping and you have to move around.

3. A decent high that's bright enough to use outdoors, doesn't heat and give 3-4 hours of battery time,

4. A turbo mode to see things far or to show off. This should be something pushing the limits, heating in 5 mins, and with a battery time of 40-50 mins.

I have a ITP A1 I love to have with me but it's low isn't that low and there is a big gap between mid and high. So I prefer my Thrunite 1c or Q123 instead.

Originally I voted 3-mode but thankfully the option existed to cancel my vote. I'm with Kokopelli on this one...4-modes for me. His logic makes complete sense. Even on a twisty, what's one more twist? If it has memory then it really doesn't matter as I'd like to be able to pick up where I left off. One thing for sure though(IMO), without memory it should always start on the lowest setting.

I voted 3 modes as well, but I can see your logic. With memory, I'd also prefer 4-modes, but I still maintain my 3-modes vote if it's without memory.

4 mode....

for either a clicky or a twisty. 4 modes is fine because there is no strobe.

Dead tie!

Personally, I think it depends on the max output. If the max output is 100 lumens, then 3 modes is fine. If the max output is greater than 130 lumens, then 4 modes looks more attractive. Greater output allows for better spacing of the output IMO.

Voted for 4 modes, but only for the clicky light. For a twisty 3 should be enough.

Another mode would be handy I suppose, if it was clicky. Otherwise 3 is more than enough for a twisty. I currently use low mode on my mini maglite led and leave it in the bathroom. No idea what lumens that is, but it's enough, not too bright not too dim.

I'm awaiting delivery from shiningbeam for an itp a3 and jetbeam ba20; i'll compare bathroom nightlight for fun.
