54mm HS-54DT Convex Optical Glass Lens LED Aspheric Surface Reflector Collimator

I got this in today and put it in a modded Small Sun ZY-T08 with not much work it fit and focused will. The small sun is running at 7amps now and the emitter is a de-domed XM-L2 U2.

I don’t know how many lux because although I got my new light meter today, it doesn’t freaking work. It registers either 1 or –1 that is it. However the hotspot is considerably brighter than anything else I have played with yet including a 7amp T-90 with the huge head.

Nice lens for $7 every clear and bubble free.

Do you have a thread on your Small Sun ZY-T08 mod available?

+1

Nope but it was quite a job altogether. I modded the carrier from parallel to serial, someone has the instructions on that one. then I put an SST-90 driver that I can’t find again for the life of me. I got it from Wallbuys but they can’t or won’t get me another one.

I’ll probably post some pictures tonight sometime after it’s dark enough for beam shots.

How small is the dome in the bezel? I'm guessing it will take like a 58mm lens. Can we see a wall shot? Please?

EDIT: OK, It would be awesome to know how big the die image is at some set distance. Then we could compare our best aspheric lenses with xml's and decide if we want to buy this lens too.

I'm guessing well over 500 kcd. If a TN31 at 6.5 amps to the LED can do it or close, maybe this light has less amps to the LED?? But still, a focused 54mm aspheric, wow!

I'm thinking a 54 mm is quite a bit smaller than the lens in a T08? Wonder how it fit with not much work? Any details?

It’s not much smaller I put a thin strip of black tape around the edge of the lens and pushed it down until it was focused then I marked it and put a few more thin strips and pushed it down firmly in place it’s stuck in there really good now and the focus is perfect. I say no trouble but it did take several times maybe a dozen. I went out in the middle of the day and shined it on the side of my garage from 50 feet away or so. It was a small square beam. I also shined my T90 with the big reflector and XM-L2 and it was way brighter but the strange thing was that it was actually a bigger hotspot and still much brighter. Hard to say what it will look like tonight. This light has a 7amp driver so It’s driven really hard too.

This was the second “real” flashlight I bought and I have been wondering just how hard I could push it. I think it will be awhile before anything comes out that will allow me to upgrade it again.

Nice and some good prices too. I might have to see if there is anything that will fit my T-90. I didn’t realize they had any or that they were that cheap.

This does sound awesome. I got a spare T16, 2 26650's, and wondering maybe doing something like this to it. Got get a decent driver for it that fits.

I've read in several mod threads that those DX lenses are substandard. I haven't read about any that focus correctly. I hope I'm wrong because they are priced so low.

Small sun first picture with the moon. Second picture was the J-19 no moonless night. But same spot.

I don't remember the distance, but that looks like a pretty tight beam. Contrats on the mod. Looks good to me.

Thanks. It’s not that far maybe 150 yards at most. It’s just an Ipod camera or I would try for longer shots.

Sorry to say… but DX lens are junk… I bought few of them, non of them work as zoomie :frowning:

I wonder if they would work better if they were 3-4x more expensive?

I agree with you, I ordered the 50mm and 66mm lens and they are complete junk, they don’t focus at all.
