show us your workbench

Huny74, the 502s and everything else up there hang by their clips, it’s not magnetic. There are some guys here who do pretty cool stuff. I want to see where some of this stuff comes from.

This article might help if you want one matching your flashlights  (although I'm wondering how many people reading that nonsense are taking it seriously)

If all women from China are like this one playing cello, then I want one right away (free shipping too?)!

As promised here is "my place" where the rough work is done. It's inside a small hut in our garden, hot in the summer (and full of mosquitos) and freezing in the winter (that's with the heater running), but it's all mine.

Hunys workshop

When I need a more clean workspace for e.g. delicate soldering I move to my desk inside her house. ATM two Mags are waiting for some 8x7135 drivers from KD causing a disapproving look from my SWMBO whenever she enters the room.

Hunys desk

Oh this is cool!

My main work area for most work is in my room (anything from designing, fixing, soldering, minor grinding/filing) ... Sometimes I move to the workshop/shed/storeroom outside if more serious work is required (eg. serious filing, lathe)

I should get a picture of my work table as it stands? Full of crap atm. *ok.. I shoved all my stuff onto the other desk.. as I usually do*

Hmm Spot the following....

  1. Aluminium Twisty
  2. DMM
  3. LED Headlamp (theres actually 2, one includes the headband, other is body only)
  4. Exploded Soft drink can (doesnt look too bad in photo)
  5. "Commonly used tools" drawer(s )
  6. LED strip light (s ) ones in use, other is in storage (black 1m long strip)
  7. G5 tower (found on verge collection - dead PSU)

Actually.. spotting these is pretty tricky.. especially if you dont know what they look like.. haha

My Grandfathers lathe - Very much from the era of british streamlined cars. I find it faces smoother than the new chinese lathes, build quality from back in the days...

You do NOT want to see my work bench in it's current state...or maybe you do! :P

It's covered in aluminum filings and chips, small parts and tools strewn about it covered in various empty envelopes and zip-lock baggies. Every time I set something down I have to hunt for 5 minutes to find it again and I swear the gremlins are stealing my stuff and hiding it on me half the time. LOL!

Johnny *i'm ashamed of myself sometimes* Mac

Here is my newly cleaned bench with most of the tools and stuff somewhere else :)

Thats insane.. lol! (pic didnt load in BLF, had to view externally)

Don: lol well to be honest that is actually just after I installed it, but I'm pretty good at keeping it nice and clean most of the time.

That's some seriously sweet shed and nice tools too. All I got is a vice and a Dremel.

All you need is a TV and a fridge (full of beer [the good stuff, not any of that mellanöl garbage]) and you don't ever need to leave.

A vice and a Dremel does most of what you need to do!

TV! Neither need nor want one of those. And as for beer, the most I have ever drunk in 50.7 years is 5 pints (2.8l for those metrically inclined). Just don't ask me how many pints of whisky I've put down my neck in the last 35 years.

Unfortunately, after a few beers I usually have to leave my refugee because the bathroom is in her majesty's empire. Maybe I'll get a mobile toilet some day...

here is my workshop..not a bad little area to hide in once and awhile lol..

I'm relieved to see that I'm not the only guy keeping leftover planks, boards and slats "just in case". This thread will be very useful the next time my GF wants me to get rid off all the nice pieces of wood which I surely will find a use for right after I have thrown them away.

See this one for someone who needs a lot more space. She works in stained glass among other things.

There is nothing that Lindsay can't use to make something wonderful.

Well, I've shown you only the uncluttered part of the hut...

My GF would say: there's nothing Huny can't use to make an incredible mess.

Story of my life!

Been there, got the scars to prove it. Which is why I live alone, apart from the New Assistant.

how right you are..I always find a need for old wood..shame that I have to throw most of it away from lack of space..
