Trustfire AK-90 (12)XML-U2 Hyperboost driver @ 2000ma

Im “kinda” being sarcastic too. Yes 2A per die. George at Taskled is a great guy! Im waiting for my extention tube from Fasttech to get here so I can run 5 cells. Then I will turn the Pot up to 2500ma. J)

Here is where I trimmed the white plastic spacers around the emitters. It seamed to really make a noticeable difference. The top right white spacer has not been trimmed yet.

That. Is. Awesome. You know the emitters/SinkPADs cost more than the light, right?
Do you have a way to measure the output/throw? I bet that thing gets hot fast at 2A/emitter.
I have mine at 1.2A/emitter with the stock T6 emitters and it hits 5200 lumens with 50kcd throw. You are probably in the 8000-9000 range with 80kcd+

Yes, Relic! You are the person that motivated me to mod my light at first. I got the idea of trimming the white spacers from you too. I posted a lot on your review thread of this light. Vesture of blood was kind enough to help me along too. Yes, I know the emitters cost more than the light it self. Its definitely not a “budget light”!

It gets a little warm but I don’t leave it on for more than a few minutes.

I been looking around for a light meter, any suggestions?

Ken

You have built some cool lights keep the pics coming

Will do! Thanks!

Ken

Nice mod. Funny how you can turn a budget light into a orsm light with lots of time and money. We all must be mad.

I have the HS1010A from… oh, I forget where now. Fasttech have the one-piece model (HS1010), but I prefer the two-piece as it is better for use on my integrating box.
For well under $20, this is one of my most used flashlight modding tools. Right up there with soldering iron and multimeter

I just ordered this one. It had the best ratings for the price.

Here is a TK-70 with 3 XML-U2 LEDs. I reflowed the LEDs. No other mods but copper briads on the springs.

Very cool. Thank you

HD2010 XML-U2 dedomed direct drive.

Defiant dedome direct drive.

Awesome work!!! Thanks again…

You've got some serious lights there!!

That's the one I got, and rdrfronty/manxbuggy1. Works excellent!

Wow!! This build is Awesome!!! This is what I'd like to do to a J18, but I was concerned about the cost of 7 emitters - you got 12! I was thinking I could hit 6,000 lumens with XM-L2 U2's. Actually IOS has great prices in qty for the U2 1A or U2 1C's already mounted on Noctigons. I haven't seen Richie086 around much lately, but I believe he has a few custom high end lumen lights - betta he would appreciate this build.

After taking all these beamshots last night, they are starting to look all the same to me!

I know this isnt a laser forum but here is one of the 3.4W lasers I have too.

I screwed up a couple during the build so 14 was what I bought! Hahahaha! I grounded 2 out installing the reflector. :open_mouth:

Ken, You don’t live far from Montgomery at all. If you are ever up in our area on a Friday or Saturday and are curious about the output of these beasts just stop buy and we will put them on the light box and test the lumens. We also have a 15meter spot marked out in the house where we can test the throw. Besides I would love to see these bad boys in person. Awesome lights!
