Yes, Relic! You are the person that motivated me to mod my light at first. I got the idea of trimming the white spacers from you too. I posted a lot on your review thread of this light. Vesture of blood was kind enough to help me along too. Yes, I know the emitters cost more than the light it self. Its definitely not a “budget light”!
It gets a little warm but I don’t leave it on for more than a few minutes.
I been looking around for a light meter, any suggestions?
I have the HS1010A from… oh, I forget where now. Fasttech have the one-piece model (HS1010), but I prefer the two-piece as it is better for use on my integrating box.
For well under $20, this is one of my most used flashlight modding tools. Right up there with soldering iron and multimeter
That's the one I got, and rdrfronty/manxbuggy1. Works excellent!
Wow!! This build is Awesome!!! This is what I'd like to do to a J18, but I was concerned about the cost of 7 emitters - you got 12! I was thinking I could hit 6,000 lumens with XM-L2 U2's. Actually IOS has great prices in qty for the U2 1A or U2 1C's already mounted on Noctigons. I haven't seen Richie086 around much lately, but I believe he has a few custom high end lumen lights - betta he would appreciate this build.
Ken, You don’t live far from Montgomery at all. If you are ever up in our area on a Friday or Saturday and are curious about the output of these beasts just stop buy and we will put them on the light box and test the lumens. We also have a 15meter spot marked out in the house where we can test the throw. Besides I would love to see these bad boys in person. Awesome lights!
i absolutely love this build. i love both flooders and high lumen lights most, and you got both in one package!
can i ask how much it cost you total? and what does trimming the white spacer do?
yes , i wonder where richie is, he has to see this, i know he would dig this mod.
he was the guy that built my 6000 lumen 90 watt ak47 9xml.
