Review/Test of Nanjg 110 Boost 1/2*AA Circuit board

Review/Test of Nanjg 110 Boost 1/2*AA Circuit board

Driver is from Intl-outdoor.com

Official specifications:

  • Suitable for 1 or 2*AA batteries, 1*CR123A(3V) or 1*LiFePo4
  • Working voltage: 0.9-3.7V
  • Output current: 450-500 (1AA), 950mA (2AA - Constant current)
  • Single mode
  • This driver does not use PWM
  • PCB diameter: 17mm
  • PCB thickness: 1.2mm
  • Total height: 5.95mm
  • Gold plated contacts
  • No reverse polarity protection
  • Copper leads with tinned ends included

Measurements

Tested with: Cree XP-G2
Diameter: 17mm
Maximum height: 5.8mm
The driver is single mode.

Conclusion

The driver is regulated between 1.8 volt and 3.3 volt, above it goes into direct drive.
The switcher is working at a very high frequency and there will not be any pwm in the light.

Notes

How do I test a led driver
List of all tested drivers

I had one of these in a Nichia 219 Mag 2C. Your tests confirmed my empirical observation of good regulation. I also like that the sense resistor is really easy to change because the empty pad (R2) in parallel with R1. I fried it by accidentally inserting an 18650 LiFePO4 cell in the dark, backwards.

Even though it states no reverse polarity protection, is it able to withstand a reverse polarity voltage up to a certain threshold (breakdown voltage?)? I always wonder how that works, but it must depend on the driver.

Thanks HKJ!
It would be nice to have a circuit diagram of the driver included if available.

Yes, but I do not want to make a schematic of the circuit and just posting something found on the net might not be legal.

Looks like a nice and cheap driver for a 2AA light. :)

Thanks!
