XTAR XP4 on fasttech

Senior squirrel? Does that mean you forget where you hide your nuts?

Well, if you really do know of a charger “coming out” that takes 4x26650/2x32650 and can charge at 2A plus, you should say so  But waiting would still be tough, we are entering the dark times of the year, when I’m charging 3-4x26650 daily sometimes, the waiting sucks.

I am tempted to get another VP1 also - they’re nice little chargers. And I’ll wait for HKJ’s review of the XP4 before I consider getting that one.

@kreisler - If your dream charger ever turns out to be more than a dream, and if it’s as good as you’ve been hinting, it will sell well enough on it’s own merit. People buying other chargers right now won’t change that, but it will it will get some cells charged.

I'm certainly not going to wait for kreislers charger based on vague hints and trolling.

I can’t help think these new chargers may just be as bad as the i4 variants. I’m not in any rush to buy a multibay charger. They all seem to lack features I want, or heat up too much.

The VP1and SP2 are excellent chargers. I might buy another of each. A charger that does everything will never be as good as a dedicated charger. Li Ions should have a Li Ion charger, and NiHms should have a NiHm charger.

I don’t think anyone who needs one now is going to wait either. If the one kreisler’s promoting ends up being a good one, great, there’s always room for more good chargers. But it might not even happen. I’m interested in the XP4 for the selectable charge rate and 26650 support and hoping it has a good CC/CV profile. It would be even better if it had an LCD like the VP1. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m very interested in the TR-008, 3x 18650/26650/26700/32650, 1.3A, supposedly works as a USB powersource, and it says it charges NiMH too?

Hmm, well is it 2A+ per channel for 3-4x26650/32650 thats part of the charger’s workings? Lots of big powerful 3-4x 26650+ plunger lights out there need a faster recharge

most people here wating for HKJ review,i wonder if XTAR send a sample to HKJ

Well, I’m pretty sure Trustfire didnt sent one TR-008 to HKJ to review… :stuck_out_tongue:

They have said they will, but it will be a few weeks before they do.

I.e. it will be more than a month before I can publish a review.

Correct.

thanks for your answer HKJ
my I4 charger is kinda slow to charge 4x 18650,if this charger can deliver 1A each slot that gonna really help me a lot

I’ve got a tr008 and some feilong 32650 cells inbound, how good it is? I can only really check what it terminates at.

A good 4 bay 26650 charger with a 2a charge rate would definitely sell, I’ve given up hoping for a hobby charger built into a normal bay style charger, maybe some day, someone will listen and build one but I doubt it, we’re just not important enough in a sales perspective.

since a good 26650 capacity is twice as 18650 battery i hope some manufacture made 4 slot and 2A charge rate independently

Nice. When you get the TR-008 please post how it does charging and termination! I just cant justify the purchase unless I know it does at least 1.3A each slot/bay and I cant find any info on that anywhere, I certainly dont want to buy it if its 433mA/slot. Especially going to 32650s, thats a minimum all day charger at that point.

I’ll not be testing charge current, just charge time, they couldn’t be stupid enough to split 1.3a between three bays could they? 1.3a on 32650 cells is bad enough, why not 2a/bay and just make people use a decent power supply?

I can't believe it's 1.3A split among charge bays either. That's just stupid! Not for a charger designed up to 32650 size!

I struggled to believe 1.3a/bay to be honest, this thing is charging cells of at least 5000mah capacity, not piddly little 16340 or 14500 cells

Right, it doesnt make sense…but that didnt stop them on other topics…so thats why I waited  Your charging time of a cell should give us an idea: if its split it will take about 11hrs to fill a cell, if 1.3A it should be 3.25+

Think we shouldn’t judge too early. Let’s await for HKJ review. It doesn’t pay to be early adopter.
2nd edition is always better…
