The T4 5D2 from IOS is lovely! :)

Edit: The 6A1 certainly have a purpose, but for me it will me more of a "tint enhancer" combined with other emitters. :)

I know several people on the forum like it though, im one of the few who thinks its a bit too rosy.

WEEEE!!

THanks for the head’s up, I see it is expected in a week. Which emitters, and what host and driver are you planning to pair up with it?

Possible light that I have and are considering:

-A Unknown blue 3AA light I bought from DX some time back, I dont think there is room for a single TIR, so triple if probably the way Ill have to go, if I can make it fit.

-2AA maglite, Ill certainly do a triple in one of my Maglites!

-Custom machined P60 pill, preferably I would like to do a custom quad P60 pill, but having a proper copper MCPB for a triple, im thinking triple might be the way to go.

Drivers: Qlite, LD-29, some Drjones stuff, or maybe something else. Depends on the light and what Im able to fit.

LEDs: I have various NW and WW XP-G2s in need of a home. High probability of some emitter mixing. Ill probably stick to XP-G2s, My fat flooder will be my Nichia 219 (+1 XPG2) extreme flood light once its rebuilt.

I actually have 2 of triple aluminium mcpcbs from illumination supply + optics. But I have not gotten around to the mods yet. Im always busy modding something else.. :p Ill see what Ill end up with once I get around to to my little triple flood lights.. :)

Btw, WB currently have this light on promotion. I think Ohoya did a triple in that light (or working on it) if not a similar light? Super cheap host! (I can not guarantee a triple is perfect fit though) Not really that capable of high amps due to size/ surface area, but.... who cares.. 0:)

What about a Convoy M1 for that Copper triple? Is there an optic that could fit that?

I am totally new to optics……

These 20mm triple MCPCBs use 20mm optics.

You could always rebuild the head of a Convoy M1, but the optics for these MCPCBS are better suited for small compact lights where head space is limited. On the other side, if you have plans for 4A++ then that may not be a dumb thing.. :p

Carlco make larger optics too, better suited for larger lights, but then you need wider/larger MCPCBs too.

Led-tech.de have some cool stuff, but its not cheap. Cutter also have various stuff.

Im hoping intl-outdoor will offer various types of optics too, the ones pictured above..

I’m worried that my hand is not steady enough to flow 3 XP-G emitters onto that board properly, seems like I have enough trouble getting an XM-L2 centered onto a noctigon, and I’m using a lab grade hot plate so I should have no excuses. Getting tempted to give it a try though. I wonder if IO will offer some that are already mounted perhaps?

@R86 - Thanks again for putting this together. You just saved me an hour or two looking for the LEDs I want.

Let me second that thank you. I used the database yesterday to find the best place to order some xml2 u2 1a's. Big time saver.

You just caused me to spend 2 hours searching emitters

Yes.

This thread has now been made, and Hank (from IOS) confirmed it.

Thanks for the feedback Bigwood and ImA4Wheelr!

Ice, huh?

XP-G2 R5 1A is now cheaper @ FT

2,41/2,41$

2,19$ a piece if you buy 3. That is cheap!

Cool. Thanks RaceR86. Just purchased 5. Also ordered that 100mm aspheric lens. Can't find any reviews of it.

Added MT-G2s from IS, 20.5$, mounted on 20mm mcpcb : 5000K - 3000K 90 CRI

I have a feeling the "5000K 80 CRI minimum" and 4000K 80 CRI minimum would have sold better... (you listening IS)

Nichia 219 is on sale 3,5$$ bare or 4.88$ mounted on 10mm mcpcb

From Simon@Aliexpress (aka Alixexpress SGWT ) I have added a bunch of emitters, and updated several prices. All his XM-L2s are now on discount and have been for some time. Compared to earlier (summer time) , he has now got a great selection again. Several emitters that was sold out very quickly in the past..

Notice this T4 6A3 80+ CRI. Nicest Cree "6" tint you can get if you ask me.

Thank you RaceR86. Couldn't resist the T4 6A3 and ordered 5. Looks real good on that ANSI chart.

XML U2-3C NW

This caught my eye looking at simon’s selection. Seems to be a genuine XML U2 –3C NW. Never seen one of these tint/bin combinations before and might be the best option for getting max NW lumens out of a single cell light. Potentially easier to drive harder than an xml2 T6-3C and get more total output? Might be interesting to test.

I have purchased some of those from Simon this last summer. I don't have test equipment, but they seem like the real deal. I reported on them in Post 206. I have one in a light and I like the tint. Seems to be the same tint as the xml2 t6 3c's I have.

I have two xml2t5-3c from illumination supply used in a work/floodlight and this is my definition of neutral white…

I just used a Cree XM-L2S6, 7D3 Tint with 90+cri from IS.

The colours are superb but for me it is a bit too “warm”
….
I guess there is not much differents between the xml2t2 from Simon and the 7d3S6 in tint…so I probably order one of the 80cri XMLs from iOS to come closer to my wishes.

Sounds good, I will probably order some for NW thrower projects. I hope they’re not too green. I would have expected extraordinarily high output bins in the 3C bin to be at the extreme end of that tint quadrangle. Kinda like those early cool U2/U3 bins that were only available in the 2S/2T range.
