I'm seriously interested in why manufacturers are so strict with MAPs.
Is it to protect other shops that sell their products?
The purpose of MAP is to create a fair and level playing field for all dealers regardless of size when advertising most any product from grills to cell phones to flashlights. I have read hundreds of MAP agreements and not a single one ever addresses a final sale price, just the advertised price. In this specific case Niwalker was responding to the complaints of their established dealer base - this would have been just my second order with them. I did not violate MAP since no price was ever advertised. However, it it is still their prerogative to fill an order or not. I requested a written MAP policy but was not provided one. I assume they did not want me to post it as proof I did not violate it and they were simply cowing to their dealers demands.

Well Niwalker just lost a ton of customers! Could we do something similar but instead of listing a coupon, we would have to PM you for the “details”?
This is disappointing. It is the third group buy that I can recall that has fallen through. A simple question to those organising such deals: wouldn’t it make more sense to have the details agreed with the dealer/distributor/manufacturer before making any Group Buy announcements?

I'm thinking it's just another packaging of the TN31 and K40 internals, though I do like the looks of the packaging better on this BK-FA01. I'm thinking it will not get better #'s than a TN31, but who knows, maybe, or maybe equal. I was thinking it was a 4 series cell, but Dale is saying it's 2P2S, which actually makes some sense if the driver is identical to the TN31/K40.

It is 2S2P, and there are in depth reviews with comparative beamshots and runtime graphs to the TN31 (HERE).

Yep, thanx Red - just went thru the review. More convincing it's the same driver OEM'd, should be easy to resistor mod or bridge, de-domed XM-L2 should be in the 400's in kcd if bridges resistors, in a nicer package than the TN31 - just dunno if it can match the TN31 #'s.

This is sooo true, a lot of the business these dealers get is from BLF and CPF. People just need to start boycotting the ones that are being way over the top on the map practice. Speak with your wallets, they will hear us!
There is obviously A LOT of money to be made on some of these lights, a discount helps us out and the dealer is still doing pretty good I would imagine also. There are only a handful of U.S dealers that even sell these. Take a look and I am sure it would not be that hard to figure out who it was. Maybe people should not only stay away from manufacturer, but also the rat dealers out there who are mad that they can not gouge us at the full retail or the tiny 5% off code they are offering.
The bad publicity these companies are receiving with their M.A.P hardly appears to be worth the effort.
We should collaborate a list, linking to the specific examples and promote it so it’s prominent in search engine searches.
See how they like it when we bitch slap them around a bit.
Further to that, pricing is not equal world wide anyhow.
Check out European/Australian pricing compared to American/Asian pricing.
If they desire to ensure equality/fairness, that’s the first issue they should be addressing.
Ensuring pricing is the same as USA Asian pricing world wide.

my dad just bought a vostro mtg2 with a coupon code for $140 somewhere else 2 weeks ago.
i hope this distributor is happy, hes not going to get me to buy this light for $180, $125, or even $14. id rather wipe my own ass with my $ than give it to niwalker at this point.
Hey guys we would like to make things clearly here. We do not/will not support any people who trying to get fast cash out of a sales. We do not mind GB activity as we know this will grow our customer base but this has to go through an authorized dealer only. Do you mean to say that Cellguy is not an authorized dealer but I’m almost sure he got his stock from an authorized dealer of Niwalker since there is no known dealer of Niwalkers other than those authorized, right? Obviously, after he gets to pay his lights from an authorized dealer, you don’t have anything to do with how much he will sell those lights.
Niwalker shill, you don't have a written MAP agreement do you? Group buy or not is none of your business. MAP may be, but you better damn well have a written MAP agreement that any dealer can access so as not to violate your rules.
There's no trouble for me. It's you that has lost what could have been a happy customer and reviewer. Better lights are coming that will cost less money. All you've done is save me money.
this was a group buy - you would have only gained business and happy customers by hopping aboard with e2 field gear and seeing this whole process through.
