I’ve been tied up on some projects that pay real money… hope to get back on this next week. I have been doing some long term testing on the drivers in some lights. Looking good so far.
I’ve had some problems finding a cheap PCB maker that can panalize round boards. Most want to cut out the individual boards… not good for having the boards built professionally. I have got my own reflow oven up and running (DIY Reflow Oven) and a friend of mine is building a pick-and-place machine. May wind up building them myself.
I realize that a project like this must be a rather complicated and time consuming affair. The reflow oven looks great and your creativity never ceases to amaze me. Puh-lease dont give up on this one. Many SRK’s will thank you! Good luck and thanks for getting back to us with an update.
Hey pyro, lets get this party started. For every person that says they are in for one, you have about 20 ghosters that just read the forums and have never registered!
So if you get this off the ground, and charge $20-$25 per driver, you have make alot of $$$$.
And lastly, count me in for 2, and I don’t even own a Skyray King, but will if you make this driver available!
thanks for the update. Looking forward to checking out the code when you’re ready to release it, as it has some really neat features I have absolutely no idea how to implement myself
I’ll be in St John this week end. I think they speak Canadian there but guessing. I was going to offer to take that worthless King off your hands, assuming you don’t have a total dud
Seriously, for $40 with warts and all, I really like this soup can of light. I’m looking forward for a kit or finished driver board as well.
St.John (New Brunswick), they speak completely intelligible English
St.John’s (Newfoundland), umm, yeah. hmm. It varies. At best you will be fine, worst it sounds like a cross between a drunken irishman and a hillbilly. (Said with love however, you won’t find nicer people than the Newfies)
I have faith in Pyro to come through on these drivers, so for now the king with continue collecting dust on the shelf.
PM Me the specifications. Size of circle, Panel Array you'd like (x by y), Rail Size, Min Trace/Space, Min Hole Size, Finish Plating (HASL or ENIG). I'll run the quote through work tomorrow. We get pretty darn good pricing on 2 layer boards because we order so many sq. inches per month. As long as you're ordering a fair number of panels, it will probably come back pretty darn cheap. Solder Mask can be any color you want (within reason) for no extra cost. 2oz copper adds a few cents (literally) per board.
I just give up on SRK idea completely. When this thing started 5 months ago SRK was “da man” now, there are clones of clones that were cloned, then kungs, kongs and what not, was interesting then funny and now it’s just boring…
The problem that I have been having is finding somebody that can do round boards on a panel for a decent price. Getting loose boards is easy, getting them panelized so they can be mass produced has been a problem… quotes have been up to 20 times what loose boards can be had for.
This is the best driver topic ever. I will be interested in two of these drivers definitely if you do begin building them to sell.
I will keep watch on this topic.
