Notice - Buying Li-ion cells from FastTech; SGP temporarily unavailable

How strange, I ordered 4-18650s and a 4-cell battery charger/pack from FT, gave them the option of how to send, and they used HKP!

I donā€™t see why they would use SP when they have that announcement on their site stating that SP is refusing all Liion batteriesā€¦ At least it is a fast turnaround though.

I had two orders in before the holidays. They sent the ā€œnon batteryā€ by SingPost and the ā€œbatteryā€ package by ChinaPost. The batteries were returned to FT. My latest four battery orders were sent HKPost.

did you obtain a driver that runs on electric eel power?

Lots of snarky comment people in here I missed, why yes of course Iā€™ve received packages, but nothing ever seems to have been damaging enough to pierce a battery, or else what I had gotten would have been damaged significantly in most, if not all cases. However, being dropped several times and knocked around is more than enough force to displace any magic ā€œinsulatorsā€ you are relying on Chinese companies to always insert (magnets even are displaced this way) and impacts with force enough to depress a tailcap button would be common. So yes, more likely Iā€™d say. Ask yourself how many products have you returned with holes in them because of postage vs how many products you have received in bashed/crumpled boxes? If you stop and think a minute, you will realize that this illustrates the ā€œmore likely to take an impact displacing probably non existent insulators and depressing the tailcap switch than to pierce or have enough force to crush a metal can.ā€

And Koyotee, you might want some functional understanding to go with functional literacy before becoming trollish and realize that relying on Chinese companies to always insert non-moveable insulation pads, place them correctly or even use them at ALL if they can get away with not, is extremely unlikely, especially since they cant even get our orders correctly a high percentage of the time. Iā€™ve found Chinese companies are so corner cutting and error prone, Iā€™d be surprised if most companies even packed them correctly in the first place, even if they had ā€œinsulating padsā€ in most cases, since there is no official regulation and it cant be checked up on on xray. Even if a miracle occurred and we could expect 90% of them to be properly packed, the postage is frequently taking bumps to those 10% that arenā€™t. And weā€™ve all received many many non punctured packages that are thrown/smacked/dropped/banged with insufficient force to damage a battery. Yes not very likely to happenā€¦but Iā€™d expect moreso than someone using enough force to puncture a metal can through packaging.

Anyways, poorly thought out snarky posts aside, when someone posted an official document on the regulation, it became apparent there is another motive in this regulation. It seems the fact that a flashlight can act as an isolator seems to be more important, and that fire is seen as more of a threat than explosion, which I wasnt considering, and its being aimed at larger multi cell packets. (Iā€™m sure now snarkies will say they have thoroughly considered this of course, thats why they didnt post on it  ). So it actually does make sense after all with those priorities.

New bioelectric flashlight in the pipe?

Iā€™ve received a couple packages from FT now within about two and a half weeks, not with batteries, but packages do seem to be moving well now for me.

But yes, as always, they look they took an awful lot of smaller bumps and bashes, in fact the lights tailcap was depressed and when I inserted a battery it was already on ā€œonā€. Imagine that. But still not a single high enough force hit or puncture for a new battery to be damaged and vent

apparently, i wonder what the energy density is

Depends on the # and quality of fish you feed the ā€œcellā€ and how hard you prod it with the switch to release voltage of course!

one could create an automated prodding device, chinese fish may not cut the mustard, japanese fish on the other handā€¦.

Whats that Bort? They taste good with mustard when their capacity starts getting low? Excellent!

If they come in 18650 size, Iā€™ll take a dozen. Plus a few dozen of whatever fish is their favorite snack.

Got any baby eels around 10440 size?

edit
Now Iā€™m hungry & I have no food. :ghost:

I got a ticket a couple of hours ago from FT stating that my order of 2 KK ICR26650 (4 cells in total) were not being shipped with my last order. Reading the posts here, I was hoping they would get through.

I guess that means I wonā€™t be ordering some NCR18650PF cells from them until this mess is sorted out. :frowning:

Bombard them with orders! Some will get through

This time around, I put through a single order of 3 pairs of NCR18650PF and guess what? Theyā€™re being shipped to me. I am tempted to see whether the 26650 were in fact removed from the shipping package as the picture provided by FT shows a biggish package being sent to me.

Well the ticket hasnā€™t been resolved yet, so if the KKs have been removed and I get refunded for them, Iā€™ll try ordering them again.

That is a let down. What reason did they give for not shipping the cells? Because yes, I thought this was a problem now resolved in the main too. In this instance it seems worse because they were not even returned by the courier.

Did you choose Singapore Post?

That option has been disabled for more than a week, at least for me.

Me too. No Singapore Post option.

Their response:

I have replied to them asking them to confirm the above because, after seeing a picture of the package (itā€™s quite big), I have my doubts it was actually removed. If it was removed, I would try and order the KKs by themselves as the NCR18650PF order seemed to go through ok.

I ordered 2 18650s from Fasttech on October 2nd, they were shipped on the 4th, and I received them on the 15th.

I have been on so many threads I donā€™t know where I am but I was sure FT said something along the lines that HKP was nearly back to pre-clampdown state and thenā€¦they refuse to even send yours to to, Iā€™m presuming HKP! What a crazy situation. Every week it changes, sometimes by very large amounts.

I think someone said Wallbuys had a courier that would ship Li batteries and Iā€™ve seen a couple of people saying their Wallbuys orders (I donā€™t know what they entailed) had come through.
