Ouch. Well, I guess in a country where 'bottling' people is a national pastime, I can understand their paranoia. ;)
Seriously though, that's pretty damn restrictive. I've got an old Opinel knife that's probably older than I am, and the twist lock would still be illegal?! Crap. it's not like it's all that quick & easy to set, either.
Ahwell, I guess that's one advantage of living in a society with much higher gun violence: (relatively) rational knife laws.
As is often the case when Politicians can't solve a problem they pass a law which cons the general public into thinking they have done something useful. UK gun and knife laws are classic examples.
Back in the 60's two Police Officers were shot with a pistol. Quite a rare event in the UK back then. I went to their funeral as a child. So they tightened the gun laws. But the pistol laws were already quite tight. So they just tightened the Shotgun laws. Telling the public that they had tightened - "the Gun Laws". Yep, laws that had no relevance whatsoever to the shootings.
Then in the 80's a guy went berserk with an automatic rifle and auto shotgun (by automatic I mean self-loading not full auto). He shot a lot of people. So to please the public they banned automatic shotguns and rifles. Nothing faster than bolt-action and small mag capacity. They ignored the fact that the nutter's rate of fire had been so slow it was below that which could have been achieved with a blackpowder muzzleloader. Neither did they tell the public that this tightening of the gun laws would have had no effect whatsoever on how many people he could have killed.
The same is true with knife laws. There's a spate of teenage gang stabbings (usually with kitchen knives or Rambo type fixed blades) and so they ban the carry of locking folders (even those that are under 76mm). And they tell the public they have banned stabby blades. The crazy bit is that one can carry that Sanrenmu AO-H02 spearpoint because it doesn't lock and is under 76mm but you can't carry a tiny Boker Subcom that does lock. Personally I'd rather have to face someone coming at me with a tiny locking Boker Subcom rather than someone coming at me with the AO-H02. Its all crazy and yet again merely designed to con the public into thinking the politicians know what to do and are doing it.
Who says you can't fool the people all of the time? Our politicians seem to.
The really frightening thing is that politicians are probably being just as nonsensical with all laws. Its just that unless you know the background (as here with guns and knives) you'll be none the wiser.
I just spent a little over 2 hours looking at all the knives you have on your site....Dang! My wish list is now a bit longer than just the claw :) I'll be pm'ing you a list shortly
My Opinion about this knife: using the best stainless steel in Chinese Market, unique rubber wrapped handle, classic lock back, lightweight. High Quality EDC folding Knife
it is a regret that I can't get my hands on the other colors like pink, blue and orange.
