zelee, that begs an old questionā€¦if a person were to offer to give you a Corvette, top of the line with the hottest engine, would you/could you accept it? The car itself would be free, but could you insure it? Put tires on it? Pay maintenance costs? The average person might not.

There are things in life that are free, but bring with them great cost. No offense girls, but yā€™all are one of those! And there are things in life that are very expensive, but are not worth having. (cough cough Surefire cough cough) Sometimes, counting the beans is time wasted that could be more wisely spent enjoying the better things in life.

Most of us who have entered the wonderful world of modding are all too familiar with the escalating cost of what started out as a budget light. My new little chopped MiniMag, with itā€™s Triple Noctigon board populated with XP-G2 emitters and pushing something like 1000 lumens is a very good example of that. A common 2 AA MiniMag, now barely over 3 1/2ā€ long, with a final cost around $50. Silly, isnā€™t it?

Not when you fire it up!

You sure about that?

Sounds silly bright, silly hot, and silly fun to me! :D

Ok, so it does cause a silly grin. Thatā€™s what modes are for. :stuck_out_tongue:

I get the distinct impression that, once we get these pills of Ryans in hand, thereā€™s going to be a lot of silly grinning going on!!!

Currently 9 left. As others have said, itā€™s for those who want to push their lights to the max.

Got it, thanks!

Everyone, please make sure if you want the 3x AMC edition of the HD2010 pill, your name is in the 1st post. Just checking in case I missed anyone!

You have a 2x and a 3x version of the HD2010 pill, Is that the standard version has clearance for the chip on the driver as though for 2 chipsā€¦in other words a stacked chip giving 2 chips on the board will touch the copper? And a 3x version will allow room for 2 chips or touch 3?

You have those of us wanting additional room in a ā€œ2xā€ list, with everyone else getting the 3x? By the description 3x looks like more room. See? Iā€™m confused.

Sorry for the confusion. The 2x AMC version has room for one additional AMC chip to be stacked on top of the default AMC7135 chip (2 in total). The 3x AMC version has room for two more AMC chips to be stacked (3 in total).

If youā€™re planning to use the East-92 DD driver, youā€™d be fine with the 2x edition.

If you have 2x AMC chips in total, you can use the 2x AMC edition pill, but Iā€™m not sure whether it would touch the top of the pill. It would be very close, however.

Hereā€™s a comparison shot:

So the 3x is deeper, right?

I use a 17mm Qlite based on the Nanjg 105c layout, with 4 7135 chips on each side in stock form. I have been stacking a chip on each of the existing chips, 4 on each side of the board, but would like to double stack on the inside and keep the spring side clean with a single layer of chips. In that case, the chips would be 3 tall on the board.

So could I get the deeper pill please? I may end up doubling the inside, with another stack on the outside, for 20 chips total. I think the Powerizer 26650 will handle that. Want to see, at any rate!

Thanks Ryan!

Yup, youā€™ve PMā€™d me about that, so youā€™re already one the list of 3x AMC stackers. I think there may be room for 4x AMCā€™s in total, not sure.

Now if I can only make it all work like plannedā€¦

Was looking at my HD2010 this evening, with itā€™s XP-G2 on a 20mm SinkPAD and 16 total chips. Was working when I first picked it up, wasnā€™t working moments later. :frowning: The emitter will fire up with an external battery applied to the pad, but nothing through the driver. I have no idea what I could have done, but not planning on messing with it as itā€™s all about to be a moot point anyway! lol

There's a 1x, 2x and 3x? If I'm understanding correctly, I wanted 2x 1x and 2x 2x, no 3x. Clear as mud? :D

Iā€™m offering only 2x and 3x AMC versions for the HD2010, and you can:

2x edition:

  • Stock HD2010 driver
  • Stock 8x AMC7135 driver
  • Stack 1 more layer on the AMC driver

3x edition:

  • Stock HD2010 driver
  • Stock 8x AMC7135 driver
  • Stack 1 more layer on the AMC driver
  • Stack 2 more layers on the AMC driver

Hope that clears it up.

Okay, then I'll still take two each of those HD2010 pills, which isn't what I originally thought they were going to be, but that's okay. Thanks for clearing that up.
