Recommend budget substitute for Fenix L0D?

Any suggestions on a budget substitute for the Fenix L0D?

http://www.fenixlight.com/viewproduct.asp?id=65

I like the range of modes and I specifically want the single AAA and the SOS function (don't care about the strobe). I want something with quality and if I can get it for significantly less than the 40 USD shipped or so that the L0D is selling for, I would be happy. If spending less means a significant downgrade in quality/reliability, I would probably just go with the L0D. Fenix seems to change their models a lot, and the new models do not seem to include what I am looking for. Thanks!

http://www.batteryjunction.com/itp-a3-eos-upgrade.html Please check this one out......they also have a single mode as well.

+1 on the ITP A3 EOS. 3 modes and super tiny.

Trustfire XPE F23. Lovely little light that runs nicely on 10440 (for 12 minutes on high), NiMH and whatever else will go in there.

+1 also on the Trustfire XPE F23 plus it's a very shiny stainless steel but also heavier and about an inch longer that the ITP A3 EOS.

Thanks for those, but I specifically want the SOS function in addition to the 3 modes. Anything like that?

Or the Tank007 TK703 which is quite a bit smaller and is available in red. It is allegedly HAIII and certainly hasn't shown any damage from mixing it with the coins, keys and stuff in my pockets.

None of the AAA lights I own do SOS. I think this is the first time I've ever come across anyone who actually wanted that.

It is for a gift and I think the person it is for would like the SOS.

I haven't tried this one, but people seem to like it:

1xAAA 5-mode with memory. It's a twisty, not a clicky. Don't expect Fenix quality, but it seems based on the L0D.

Also in red

Thank you. I may give that a try. The reviews on DX were pretty favorable. I seem to hear a lot of complaints lately about DX's service; is there a consensus on whether I am better off ordering from KD or DX?

Here is another review; the bad Google translation makes it pretty entertaining: http://tinyurl.com/32s88cr

For those not living in Asia/Australia I'd say KD is worse. Much worse. No communication at all - forget about orders for three months when they usually show up - but just hope it is what you ordered. DX will, at least, eventually answer your mail.

I haven't had any signficant problems with KD. Things take about the same amount of time from both KD and DX for me, but DX is better. DX customer service is also better. So far, I would even say the DX customer service I have gotten has been good (just not that quick; they have a definite process they follow and it takes a little time to play out).

My one and only experience with KD wasn't good, that is to say, about the same as DX.

KD was as slow as DX to South America. They listed the item as "In stock" and then it showed as "Out of stock" after I bought it. But after a week or so it shipped out. And during the whole ordeal their customer service was noticeably more helpful and prompt than DX. Overall, I would give DX 1.5 out of 5 stars, and KD 2 out of 5 stars.

Ordered from DX with a couple of other things. I'll post when it comes. Thanks again for all the input.

So what did you order man.......

Recently ordered a light from KD. 10 days later it arrived at my door in Europe. Quite impressiv.

On the other hand an item sent by them the day before have not arrived yet!

DX customer service works, but very sloooow. Over the years I have only had one problem though.

Just a couple of knick-knacks (a compass and a water-bottle holder), nothing light related.

I got the DX SKU 32946 Brynite PD03A . Shipping was delayed for a while, then I was out of town for 10 days so it was a while til I could put my hands on it. I am too newbie to give a very sophisticated review, but:

First, it is a complete clone of the Fenix L0D. Not too crazy about that but Fenix no longer makes the L0D.

Build quality seems good at first glance. The threads feel smooth and precise, without any grittiness. The visible circuitry/connection looks clean, with no goop, discoloration, etc. Glass lens, HA-III, etc.

The high setting is VERY bright for an AAA (threw a drugstore alkaline in it as that was what was close at hand).

Overall I am quite satisfied.

iTP A3 Eos SS flashlight ,a good flashlight to everyone!
