New 3D Defiant 625L LED FL @Home Depot

This may have been covered elsewhere, but check if the battery tubes interchange and a measurement if the non-DST has a wider inside diameter .

FYI, I just ordered one having it sent to my Local HD, as follows:

I wonder if 3 32650's would fit. If 650's are too long. One could use a sleeve and spacer with 3 of these.

18500’s just seem like such a waste of volume in a light like this though.

I agree, but $4.50 for 12.6 volts is a cheap way to get by until a better solution is found. Of course, one would need to make sure the cells are in good condition and of similar capacity for using in series.

Given all the trouble and expense of doing this, just buying some Tenergy Centura or Premium D cells seems like a much cheaper and better solution. Not to mention that it’s a heck of alot easier and more convenient to change out and charge three cells vs 12.

I seen that model in Home Depot here a fiew weeks ago. smaller head that the DST had. Defiant needs to bring hte DST back with a harder driven XM-L2, and D cells !

But that’s too easy! :_(

Got the 3D to add to the rest - I like it, has some heft to it.

I got my 3D yesterday. I like this one too! It is a heavy duty light. It feels really well made. For $20.00, you can’t ask for much more. My only complaints would be the plastic lens and the switch feels a little chinsy. Again, at this price point I can overlook these two points. I know the weight of this massive club will turn alot of people off, especially because this level of output can easily be accomplished by a single 18650 light. I like it though. It just feels really sturdy. (For reference, I’d put it in between the 3D Armormax and a 3D Mag.) The reflector throws the beam pretty well, and for 3*alkaline D cells, this is a nice package. It will never be an edc light, but I’m glad to have it in the collection. It’s been said before, but Defiant is really proving that there is no reason why Mag couldn’t put out a 500+ lumen XML2 3*D light that would be perfectly reliable at a $30.00 price point.

Of course, this light will have a few advantages over a 1x18650 light. First of all, you don’t have to worry about Li-Ion safety. Secondly, if you use a true D battery like a Tenergy Centura D cell (8000mAH), runtime will be REALLY long compared to 1x18650. If your batteries are dead and you can’t charge, you can always use alkalines in a pinch. And finally, because of the large size, you won’t have to worry about any potential thermal issues. Of course, you have to weigh all the advantages and disadvantages of this light compared to a 1x18650 light when considering which one to buy (or, if you have both, which one to use in a given situation). But needless to say, a large 3D light is not without its advantages compared to a 1x18650 light.

This has been said before. And it all comes down to Mag’s cammed focusing system. This seems to be something that Mag refuses to give up on with their lights. And although it was fine in the incandescent days, it’s now a liability since the need for the emitter to move (when focused) doesn’t allow the emitter to be properly heatsinked. This is why LED Mags use low power emitters, and they aren’t driven very hard. It would appear that Mag would rather stick to low output lights than give up their trademark focusing system.

Lucky you jumped on it, it showed as sold out again in a few days.

Home Depot Black Friday Item.

They put the wrong light on special . T_T

It’s on sale from today till dec 4.

Isn’t that the same price as it was before?

Yes, but I don't think it was supposed to be sold before now. When first listed it said out of stock online. I was available for a few days, some ordered it then it was out of stock again. Probably a mistake.

I grabbed another one. Thanks for reminding me!

Interesting, most of the lights that have been discussed here on BLF recently are on "Special Buy", but the prices are the same as before.

Just got one of these. Awesome light for $20. It sports a decently driven xml2 (U2 I imagine) and seems really well built. Feels like a billy club when holding it. Unfortunately it has a plastic lens and reflector, but once again for $20, it’s a beast!

I reflowed the led to a Sinkpad, and grounded out the negative. Not sure about led current, but I measured 2.8a at the tail, vs the original 1.6a. Not bad for the stock D alkaleaks.

I REALLY like this torch, and plan on buying a few more for people for gifts. It’s an impressive light.
