I have one XM-L SK68 I bought already modified and a warm XM-L2 that I switched into one. Better flood at the expense of throw. The total light output depends more than anything else on the current, which varies especially with three modes. I have a lithium ion only driver on order.
I just got an “SK58” from TOTO88 | Bocoran Slot Gacor Hari Ini . The knurling is much deeper than on my other three. Only the one with the Osram led actually said Sipik on it. Otherwise similar, so I like this one best. Maybe I will switch a three mode driver pill into it. The XR-E upgraded SK58s are intermediate in size between the SK68s and the 3-mode Zoom AA/1450 EXPIRED ! "Black" $1.99 Max 3ea slim zoomy. The light output is closer to the 68, because the head and lens diameters are nearly as large, but of course nothing else AA has the 68’s heat sinking ability.
Added: The swap didn’t work. The locations of the led in the pill and the locations of the lens in the bezel are different. Also the new one has the slide friction spring on the body, while the old one has it on the pill. The focus was off and the slide friction was wrong.
The knurling on the head on my example is much nicer than the one shown at the selling site. The spacing along the head is narrower and there are micro groves on top of the the knurl rectangles, similar to what I have seen in expensive lights. This makes it very easy to zoom with one hand. One of my best AA lights, and I am not aware of any expensive ones that I might like better. Because it has only one mode, I have an Eneloop in it, rather than a lithium ion.
Defnitely an Osram Emitter, i have several other Osram lights with the same emitter.
As for the original Sipik and the various clones, i have one of every variation i could find, and so far the only “real” one, and best one i have is the red one in this pic.
it cost around 9 bucks, single mode, has an EZ900 series XR-E, runs well on both AA alc. and a 14500 lithium, has a glass aspheric lens, and so far is still the brightest of them all, with the best Neutral white tint in stock form.
The others in the photo are the various clones i could find and test.
The original is found on the Sipik website here:
Mine is a glass lens and 14500’s work fine. Went from about 100 lumens[primary AA] to about 300 or 400 lumens W/ 14500 Battery. I got it off of Ebay a year ago
If there are glass aspheric lenses, I wonder if they are cut and polished or only molded. I suppose the plastic ones are molded and that plastic can be formed that accurately by molding, but I think you could tell molded from polished glass by how clear it is as a magnifying glass. One usually can tell how a drinking glass was made by looking at it.
That does look like a remote switch. The switch is in the tail cap that screws off, so it would be easy to make a remote replacement for it. People use remote switches for lights on guns and what not.
