Hmm…that WOULD be interesting. Wish there was a way to protect a dedomed LED…is there a way?

Yes, I will be offering a few things like this in the near future. The big issue is packaging; when you dedome the emitter it becomes much more fragile due to the exposed phosphor, bond wires, etc. I will tape a hard "dome" over the top of the star. I also will test every emitter after a dedome to ensure functionality.

The problem with this is it's expensive if you're only doing a few LEDs.

OK, you are officially ‘going the extra mile’…‘exceeding all expectations’…‘insert another cliché here’…

You are such an asset to BLF, Richard, thanks!!

Have you used this stuff? That would solve a big problem for me if it truly protects the wires on dedomed emitters!

I will also have to look into the LED seal. I will be doing more than just a few emitters in the long run so it would probably be worthwhile.

Why not just do what IOS do? Put the emitters in film-canisters, or perhaps short sections of heavy cardboard tube? With the latter you can have two sizes, one for 20mm stars and one for 16mm stars.

I haven't used it. I think it was Gords who wrote about it somewhere here.

What are you showing us comfychair? :~
Your dedome looks to be missing some phosphor & its bond wires?

Not missing anything, that's a reflection from the shiny layer of LEDseal.

This is a spectacular dedomed!
Can you explain the steps to get to this?

thank you!

Petrol bath to remove the dome, clean with isopropyl alcohol, spray a bit of LEDseal into a cup, pick up some liquid LEDseal with the end of a chopstick, apply drop onto top of naked LED.

Thanks RMM,
Got the package today, everything in good shape and well packed.

Please restock that holster you had. I bought one with a battery order to check it out. It fits the Solarforce L2 style lights perfectly. Will order many the next time there in. Glad to see you’re able to restock so quickly on those Panasonics.

Hi Texas Shooter, I have about 30 on the way. It is a very nice holster for the money. Will update here when I receive them.

Nice.

Does the layer affect the beam in any noticeable way compared to a de-domed emitter without the layer?

(Your LED does seem to be missing some phosphor in the upper left corner.)

is the 4.35v charger done?

Nope. Probably won't be for a few weeks. I'll update here when ready... still not even sure if what I'm working on is going to work out.
