wanna create a car spotlight so to speak

i have 2 of these with no tail caps what i wanna do is mount them to my car in some manor or fashion. and wire them to a toggle switch in the car. i’m wondering how to wire it and what not. i havent seen anyone with anything but light bars. i don’t have that much skill. lol well outside of basic wiring and soldering. so if anyone has any thoughts on it let me know.
also it’ll probably just get mounted on the mirror stalk on the driver side

Using a cheap torch as an auxiliary light, really sounds like a bad idea.

What do you need it for? What’s your budget? What are the possible mounting locations? Like bum said, I don’t think rigging up a cheap flashlight is the best idea. There are a lot of cheap options as far as auxiliary lights that will cost you less than 2 of those lights.

those lights are just what i have lying around. and i live on a private dirt road and ive already hit three deer this year and destroyed the front end of my truck. my truck even on bright doesn’t shine into the treeline. but if i were to rig an adjustable swivel or somethin it’d give me some light and i wanna wire it to a switch in my tuck so its easily accessible. i on waterproofing and such i was just wondering if anyone knew how to wire it so it wouldn’t fry the led
i already have the switch and plenty of wire and a swivel bike mount

You could probably rig this to your mirror stalk. Or something similar. Just search 360 light mount. And then some way to step down the voltage. This might work. But I’ve never tried it. I think you would just have to fool around to find a way to seal the tube with wires going in it.

I still recommend lights made for the job like these. They are not made that well but have held up through rain and mud. I have 2 sets on my POS car. They work great, around 2000 lumens a set. Although I have 55w retrofit projectors, these cheap driving lights made a huge difference.

Or maybe you could find a pressure switch that will fit them, plus dummy cells and just splice the wires. Sounds like a lot of work though.

where’d you find those at?

Harbor freight. You can click the pic.

might have to make a purchase. those look good and come with everything needed

It is to bad someone cannot just help you find a bracket or two. Seems you have made up your mind what you want to do and who knows best what you want? Anyway good luck finding them and keep us up to date on how it works out. I had thought about mounting a couple SRK’s to my roof somehow. If I could find a cheap enough solution I might just do it. I want mine to be removable or very secure and remotely(inside cab) adjustable.

I would find out if you have any used car dealer lots nearby, and specifically those that deal in used police cars.

They often end up with junk, and would probably be able to take a spotlight off of a used police car to stick onto yours. While I use mine very rarely, I do find it extremely useful to have occasionally, especially when trying to find a house number in a area i'm not familiar with, or just to light things up a bit further down the road.

Be forewarned, depending on your jurisdiction it is illegal to have one in a position pointed to the front, so when not in use, always, always, makes sure it's off, and pointed towards you.

Obviously not a cheap or easy solution, but 100% worth it.

You should check out Unity. I have one of their lights on my Jeep and it out-throws many of my handhelds, it has quite a reflector. It’s also nice to be able to direct the light where I need it. I ended up needing a 12” long 1/2” bit to get through my A-pillar, and I’d suggest measuring several times first
