X60vn in hand and tested - its a true monster!

I figure I can dedome later if I really want more throw. I'd probably upgrade the emitters of the XM-L continues improving anyway, which is a great time to try something different. If I do get this light, I'll also get a BTU that's dedomed. V54 gets really good prices on the BTU, so I might have him mod it too. It's kind of depressing. I want to do it myself, but there's not much point if it costs about the same to have the work done for me.

Nice! That X60vn is bright as hell and sweet looking to boot! I'm envious. :P

Wow. Cant wait for the night shots. Thanks for sharing.

Wow that is quite the light. Congrats on owning that beast.

DAT big awesome 5x XM-L2 reflector..

Sick light.

I hope there will be a budget clone soon. 0:)

I could swear I've seen a 6x18650 that was similar to this with multiple emitters and side clickie...

Found it. Not a side clickie. http://www.shenzhen-wholesale.com/12XT6-CREE-T6-5-modes-super-Bright-Aluminum-Alloy-LED-Flashlight_sku9979.html

That 2nd link is an interesting light. Looks pretty good. If you can put one of those beast drivers in it, I think it would be a neater light than the TRJ18. I’m sure those 12 LEDs would heat up pretty quick though with the 90mm head. Would be an impressive flooder if not driven too hard.

Thanks for the suggestion leaftye. I am aware of those lights.

I already have a sick modified multiemitter light. Form factor is not what I find interesting. The large 5 emitter reflector is what I am drooling over. :)

Thanks for the mini-review. Im sure you’re very proud of your light and have every reasons to be. Just the fact that the host isnt glued in this category of light makes it that much more appealing. If this were a larger & deeper reflectored light (such as an upscaled BTU reflector) Id bite in a heartbeat and gladly kick out the $. Of course everything is a compromise, and this light would easily serve a great many needs while satisfying expectations.

Group buy anyone?

Im looking forward to your beam shot comparisons.

Vinh says the X60 actually comes stock with a copper pill that the LEDs sit on. He basically took it out, sanded the surface smoother, reapplied the xml2’s on copper Sinkpads onto this copper pill. Of course dedomed. He then did a resistor mod to bump it from appx 3A stock to its current 4-4.5A range. He then did wick mods on all the springs, touched up any connects needed and replaced all the main wires. He said stock it was setup pretty nice. But with him boosting the amps he wanted everything bumped along with it.

That’s the first stock light I’ve heard of running on a copper pill, interesting. Though running it on copper doesn’t really make much sense with the conservative 3A drive.

It does make you wonder since many people seem to equate a brass pill as one made of copper.

It does when it costs 300,000 cents! I like that they've improved the headroom for this like. The Thrunite TN-32 also has a copper pill, except the copper extends to the exterior where it can have the greatest effect.

Still no beam shots?

Sorry, but no. Way too difficult for me to do during the work week. I live in the city during the week, but head to family country house on weekends. This one, and many of my lights are too powerful to use around town without attraction too much attention.
In fact, I had my X60vn out shining across a field close to the house this past weekend. Maybe 300m away at a treeline. There are houses perhaps 20deg or so away from where I was shining (same distance away). Only had it on for perhaps 10 seconds.
Went back about 15min later with a few other lights to try in comparion to the X60vn. And guess what I find - squad car sitting right in front of the treeline I was shooting at, sitting in the dark, faced my direction. Had to get binoculars out to make sure it was a cop. No mistaking the lightbar on top.
So no more playing in my neighborhood with the powerful lights.
If the weather cooperates this weekend I’ll get some shots done. Its suppose to be a decent chance of rain, so we’ll see how it plays out.
Any particular lights you want to see it compared too?

Wow, this light is really monster light. Throwing 6400 lumens for such long distance is incredible.

They called the cops on you for using a flashlight…

IN TEXAS?!?

Dear god, here in Boston I would be talking to the bomb squad like my name was Tsarnaev.

the main comparison light i would like to see is vs the tom e super shocker please

+1

I don’t have 18650 cells as I am very nervous running those things. I’d imagine I’d crap my pants if I hold one of those 6x18650 cell lights when they are on turbo.

The cost is high too but I guess if you have a real need for this kind of monster (Maybe SAR, living in huge farms, forests etc, other uses), that $365 would be a reasonable and useful investment.

Now for only taking beamshots or shelf queens, this has little interest unless someone is kind of a ‘collector’

Just my 0.02 lumens!
