My #$%@# pocket rocket >> MT-G2 zoomable SK98

Have you modded the switch if not you will never see the measured current.
Have you take some lux measurements…I guess not you will get upset.

I have modded a sk98 with 3 xml2u2 and recognized that the aspheric steals so many lumens…

welcome and very nice mod

Wow and welcome. Orsm.

+2

PS - Can you do outside beamshots @ maybe 50m on the different levels?

whoa… never seen a MT-G2 in a such small light before, hmm… got me some ideas now
and yeah… welcome to BLF, you definitely belong here

Welcome to the forum ghos! :)

Cery cool! 8) Im surprised you can actually run it for a full minute in H mode… not to bad for a mega pocket-rocket.

Presenting a mod with an emitter more expensive than the host is a fine way to enter BLF

Welcome!

Love the mod. Welcome to the forum ghos. Now that's joining BLF in style.

Does it kick like a magnum?

Hi guys, thanks again for the welcome!!

@Old-Lumens - Hmm dunno but maybe if i can get another sk98 can try taking sandpaper and making a diy frosted aspheric

@FlashPilot - You could, but i wouldn’t recommend it as it seriously heats up to the point you can’t even hold it without burning yourself, this thing is HOT

@GottaZoom - Hmm will try taking some comparison beamshots tonight at my warehouse if i have the time

@Illuminaria - Yeah and it burns like one too, shine it too near a wall at high mode and you’ll blind yourself

@cat eyes - I got it from one of those aliexpress sellers, but i think his store was closed due to too many fraud cases, mine actually came after 2 months (the first time was because it got held up at customs, or so they say), the sk98 i receive didn’t even match the one that was posted, his photo had a sharp bezel, mine is slightly curved, which looks nicer imo and the build quality is surprisingly not bad… i’m still looking for a good sk98 supplier though, will be flying to china in jan to personally buy up all the LEDs, drivers and hosts

how about fasttech, 3 to choose from, one might be good

@Bort - Hmm will take alook there… but seems to have a few SH98 and SK98s, whats the actual difference between them?

@cateyes - hmm even if the pill isn’t solid i read somewhere you could take a copper wire and coil it up until it becomes a copper “coin” so that it fills up the “hole” in the middle

Anyone knows if its possible to include multiple switches in a driver? (eg, one for power and one for mode change) It will also be able to momentary light with that switch

Of course it is possible, but you need a custom driver/firmware. Ask drJones he is smart in this kind of things…
But it is hard to mod your ios driver.

Oh it doesn’t have to be this particular iOS driver, even a standard single cell 3a driver will do too, might want to try a triple xpg/nichia with triple tir optics too

i have no clue, i just saw them, in the reviews or comments for the sk98 theres a link to two more lights, i saw them yesterday but i’m not planning on buying any of them so i didn’t look into them in any detail

I guess the problem would be there’s no way to guarantee the light you’ll receive is the one you one, since they’re all so similar… then you also have cases of hollow pills… missing screws… scratches and cracks even before you switch on the light… lottery?

all chinese lights are a lottery, my defect/failure rate is over 50%, i had started a thread on it a long time ago

the sk-98 from fasttech have solid pill

this one:
sk-98

I have 3 from fastech and the 3 have solid pill

Ok just had the time to take some beamshots…

With the SK98 aspheric lens, this thing floods like nobody’s business, i can’t even get the “spill area” on camera… lens can’t zoom that far out

Here’s my Nitecore SRT at max output (750lm) vs the SK98 MTG2(2500+ lm)
