MULTI-LED SHOOTOUT (BEAMSHOTS)

thanks for the comparison shots … that X60vn is a beast!

I was using my K40vn to help setup the camera and shots. The K40vn is not slouch at 394kcd and 1625 lumens, but the X60vn and other big guns kinda smack it around here.
Here is a shot of the K40vn vs X60vn -

.

BIG PLUS 1

Nice! What happened to the county park you guys usually use for beam shots?

I would still like to join you guys one night! Not that my lights would come close to the monsters you and your bro have.

What if there was some sort of a beam shot gathering one night? I would certainly be interested as I am not too far from you. Would that be too weird? My wife would certainly think so! Watcha think???

This is actually the same park. That part of the park requires us having to carry all of our lights and equipment about 4-500 meters though to get to the setup location. And it requires setting up multiple targets. Basically between being about 32F and Christmas Eve, we didn’t want to take the extra hour or two it would take to do that setup. Plus we like to change things up every once in awhile.
But that usual 300m setup is my favorite location to shoot from.
A Texas meet would be very cool. I know brother and I would be very willing to do something like that if we could lineup several members to go some weekend. We’ve talked about doing something like that before.
If come up with any good ideas, post them up or PM us if you prefer.

Maybe in the Spring sometime when it warms up a bit? Weekend night when perhaps more can make it? I know there are quite a few BLFers from TX here…but not sure how close they are to you. This park is in Montgomery County…correct?

I think it would be a cool time to check out all the lights, beamshot techniques etc.

Great beamshots comparison of some nice lights. The long range shots are really useful for comparing throw.

Thanks for sharing and enjoy the lights. :)

Early spring sounds good to me. I’m a wuss about this cold weather. A nice 60F evening in February or March would be nice.
And yes the park is in Montgomery County off highway 149. But we could meet wherever is the most central location for the members willing to go.

How about we get past the holidays and then look at our calendars to decide on a date/time? We could also start a new thread when we get more info. Any other folks from TX interested?

I know that gottazoom has expressed some interest in getting together also and I bet we could get Dale (DBCstm) to come too. There are several more members in the Houston, Katy area that might be interested.

Thanks for taking the time to do the pictures. The X60vn is great but I’m really impressed with the IOS shocker and how well the Stock XML TK75 do.

I agree on both accounts. I’m one of the biggest BTU fans around. The IOS version is pushing the limits somewhat by running at 6a, but its awesome none the less. The X60vn does have an edge on it though by doing over 2000 more lumens running at a more moderate 4A and having 6 x 18650’s to give it reasonable runtime. But I love both the BTU’s just as much.
And the TK75 bone stock is likely the best combo thrower/flooder, and high quality light on the market? The TK is brothers light, but it has my full respect.

Like those, and that new light is a monster! Keep in mind that you’re actually shooting at an equivalent 54mm and 29mm, with your 1.6x crop frame camera. And a step or two up in the ISO for the other settings would show the spill more, albeit with those monsters at a mere 120M the hot spot would be blown. I use ISO 1600 at f/5.8 and 1/2 second exposure for all mine, regardless which camera I use.

I’d love to meet up with some of the folks here. My MaxToch SN6X-2X is doing over 1600 OTF lumens now and throwing some 800+M according to the meter, and my HD2010 is doing almost 1500 OTF and hitting over 900+M (222kcd), I’ve seen light on a building at 1068 yards distant.

And maybe by spring I’ll have my Terminator being a real contender with some customized driver work.

Who knows, maybe my little mini C8 will be a force to reckon with by then. LOL

Merry Christmas RR! :santa:

Nice Beamshots !

I freaking love my BTUvn. (Same as your iOS mod)

That is all.

hey guys… it’s sound like fun… too bad you guys are too far away, but perhaps I could lend you my HID searchlight thrower 10” lens just to add to the mix just for the fun of it?

No doubt a good HID with a 10” reflector would be monster thrower. And a blast to play with.

Not to bad in a 7” reflector either. Not exactly a flashlight, but its fun.

or a 14” reflector

Thanks for all the beam shots.

thank you for these shots. that x60vn is a very nice light. but it didnt demolish the super shocker so i will pass on this light. if i didnt have a super shocker, this would be the light to have.

Orsm shots as usual guys. Its good to see your very unique collection of hot rods continue.
