Review of Mountain Electronics (RMM's store)

Placed my second order tonight
First orders arrived in foam cut to allow products to sit in perfectly
Arrived coast to coast in less than a week I couldn’t be happier with this kind of service
Worth the price and then some

placing an order as we speak!!!

Ordered some 20R’s and a Noctigon MT-G2 a few weeks ago, no problem at all. Fast handling and shipping times. Product very well packaged. I have no problem recommending them.

same here

RMM is my first choice for light products now. Made about 3 purchases, some were gifts. Which by his packing standards you almost don't need to present wrap the stuff to "gift" it to someone.

Story time... It sorta reminds me of FastTech when they first started out. Myself and a bunch of others were making requests for all sort of mod items, which sometimes they eventually stocked. That was neat to see.

In the beginning it was great when FT listened to us. They also made product corrections... for example when I told them to edit their labeling of "copper pill" to "brass" for their P60 drop-ins. In fact all the corrections that BLFer's submitted regarding... true driver output, actual battery capacity, etc, etc. made FT great - better then their competition.

Then they grew big and the Li-ion shipment debacle happened. Now FT doesn't or can't respond to all their customers, although they are still very popular. But now we've gained more American suppliers. Some of whom are very competitive and supply the same stuff. So I don't like to order oversees when I can avoid it.

Richard is vastly different from FT in that he's a modder like us. I think he has a decent idea of what products are good and what he likes.

There are a few minor things I would like to see sold like silicon grease, maybe Nyogel, 4200mAh 26650s, dummy cells (AA, C, D, etc), maybe a ThruNite MCC-4 Charger for DBCstm . But in a short time his store had grown considerably. So I'm very happy with Richard's work and wish him the best.

Here they are (Pana unprotected) - I’m sure you seen them by now.

Plus RMM has an excellent return policy (see Returns) - though I've never had to use it. I once returned a defective flashlight to China... that was a big loss for me. Made a ~$60 light cost ~$85, with about 60 days shipping time. So stateside shopping is much nicer.

I have placed quite a few small orders. All of them have come quickly and very well packaged. Prices on many items are very competitive.

Since you mentioned Nyogel I’ll ask.

Is there anything comparable more readily found in your typical hardware stores? Or maybe even a Marine Supply Store I was thinking like a West Marine or such??

Very nice to have a US based seller who has a very good idea what parts we are looking for.
Shipping is always same day on all my orders.

Richard is expanding his product line at a rapid rate with a nice selection of current items.

lots of ppl mention Super-Lube grease - I've never tried it though (dealers e.g. Harbor Freight, Walmart, Amazon)

A few like the oil (HomeDepot, Amazon). I think I would prefer the grease in 1/2 oz size.

You may find silicone grease from Ace Hardware or any Scuba shop. Only get non petroleum based.

Con: it produces black (maybe gritty) residue... so I'm trying new stuff.

Around the house you may have sewing machine oil. some ppl say that works too.

This Grease & Lube thread (see CPF) is pretty comprehensive on the subject. It started back in 2009 and still going - you'll find a lot of suggestions.

I think RMM worked on Christmas... I asked him not to do that. got a message on the 25th saying my package was being shipped. Maybe he's a Grinch?

When you are doing something you love, it’s not considered working  Still need a break though over there at Mountain.

Anyways, I was blogging on a fishing/boating site I frequent and mentioned his U2 C8 for <$30 and >1000 lumens and I got 2 pm’s from friends asking about it. I referred them to his positive reviews and they couldn’t have been happier to find a descent US source for batteries and other goodies. I actually even ordered that little light at that price last night…lol…. HOW can you beat that deal??

Wish I had seen it before XMas as that would have made a great gift to my brother in law.

I have had two perfect orders from them already.I placed a third on the 23 and I saw it was shipped on the 24th!Who ships on the 24th?Richard and his family have done great job with this store. They do a great job on getting orders out quickly and packed very well. The web site has also grown very quickly for the short time it has been up.My ownly fear is that Richard is gonna get burned out at this pace.He is a great asset to this community and I would hate to lose him just so I can get batteries fast at a great price.Hope everyone has a great Holiday!-Rick

Update. I think we have a new record for turnover time. My package just shipped 11 hours after I ordered it. LOL.

Can’t wait until he gets those darn 3400 mAh 18650’s on January 4th or so. Those things will go like Hot-Cakes!!

Actually received my package today. That’s impressive for the cost of shipping. Mountain kicks butt. Thanks Richard.

That little C8 is a nasty SOB for it’s size. I already lost ownership to my son though….lol…. Guess I’ll be ordering another.

Lost both of my C8’s to my son for bike lights……………………

Just received my first order (King Kong 26650 cells). Very happy with the price and service.

I placed an order for a custom P60 drop-in and it was built and shipped in less than 10 hours. ( a couple of days before Christmas no less ) Impressive !!

I was provided with tracking number and order arrived well packed.

RMM is very helpful if you need additional info or advice on what to pick to fit your needs.

I can totally recommend Mountain Electronics.

Stay away, all mine!

Both my orders shipped the next business day and arrived in 3 days with ample packaging materials. Pretty great prices especially for a US seller. Definitely my go to for parts and batteries (I have enough flashlights for the time being. ).
