Niteye EYE 10 Ti-C Battery choices... And possibly the best GF ever.

So… how do you know you’ve found the most excellent GF ever? Not only does she accept my flashlight addiction without question or need for explanation, but she adds fuel to the fire, and ups the ante. Knowing full well of my addiction to carbon fiber and titanium, she comes up with one of the most thoughtful xmas gifts possible… A Niteye EYE10 Ti-C !!! Needless to say I’m more than happy, but now I’ve got a choice to make on battery sizes. It will obviously run on primary cr123 lithiums, but due to insane cost of these, I’m looking for something rechargeable. I’ve found that there are a fair amount of decent 16340 cells (AW, Efest, Nitecore etc…) with cap. ratings between 650-800, but it appears it can also run on an 18350. Do you guys see any real advantages to doing so?
Out of curiosity I tried the battery tube with some “18650”s I’ve got on hand. The protected trustfire flames fit, some unprotected salmon Sanyos fit, the protected Xtars do not.

Any ideas?

PS… The 16340s or 18350s need to have a button top. Flat top cells wont work in the light. Thanks guys, and Happy Holidays!!!

Excellent choice, in both cases…light and GF!

I find that the AW IMR18350 delivers the most power in anything that size. Otherwise, go with the cheaper Efest IMR18350. Richard has those and you can get em pretty fast. MTN Electronics

If you don’t have a charger, one of these will work nicely for you. They also sell one that can charge 4. I have both the I2 & I4. I love them. Best chargers I have ever used. I was impressed that they will fit such a range of batteries sizes & types.

I guess I should have stated that…. I already have a couple good chargers (xtar) and a bunch of cells. (18650,18700,14500, eneloops, etc…) I’ve also already got a dozen or flashlights of varying sizes/styles. A soldering station and a multimeter are also around…

on another note…. I’m finding very little difference in the capacity of the 16340 and 18350 cells. This would be counter
intuitive based on the size difference…

I’ve seen an AW IMR 18350 make a 161 lumen difference. That’s a pretty nice mod right there!
