Review: Skyray King (3xXM-L - 4x18650)

@No. 13 The edge of the spill from 15 feet away shows a zoomed pattern that you posted in the first picture. I will post a picture tonight.

Just bought this baby from FancyFlaslights (T6) with panasonic 3400mah protection cells. The individual battery costs $12 but they are selling a pack of 4 of the supposedly same battery, for $35. Is this genuine? This is less than $9 a piece! What ya think?

There's quite a critical battery crisis atm. Few things lithium are slipping out of asia in the meantime.

There's also cheaper at FastTech.

I am looking to buy this flashlight from FT with fou panasonic protected 3400mah.
Can these batteries fit in this flashlight?

Yes, easily, I have them in mine

Hi Guys,

do you think this is genuine?

Which battery, without spend too much, you suggest in this same shop?

for example those?

Many thanks

Ale

Do a search on Ultrafire batteries.

Never buy Ultrafire batteries.

You save $3-4 per cell and at best get a bad cell that poorly functions at vastly lower than stated capacity, and at worst you get a cell that explodes when charging, causes a kitten to have a heart attack and die, then your house subsequently burns down along with the cure to cancer that was hidden in your closet.

As far as the flashlight goes… Eh, it may be genuine, it might not be. There are better SRK options though…. I’ll try to find the link to the good ebay seller with the SR Kung.

I have this torch for 1 year, I use it with 4 ultrafire (probably copy) 3700, a date I’m waiting 4 NCR18650B 3400mAh

https://www.fasttech.com/products/1141104

I guess I’ll see a big difference in performance?

A huge difference, and the risk of the ultrafires blowing up or setting your house on fire will go down substantially, assuming you will no longer use the ultrafires (please dont use Ultrafire batteries).

I replaced the ultrafire batteries as soon as possible

Just received my Skyray King (4X) and the rear O-ring fell (in two pieces) off the first time I unscrewed the rear cover.
Any ideas on were to order a replacement O-ring?

Hello

does this Sky Ray 3x can work with only 1x 18650 battery?
(example 1xbattery 1x Cree led on
or 2x battery 2x Cree led on?)
hope we can help me
thanks

Usually the Sky Ray Kings can run off one, two, three, or four 18650 batteries.
At least I’ve never heard of a Sky Ray King that could not run with less then 4 batteries installed.
I think I’ve bought about 9 of the Sky Ray Kings “types” off eBay.

Tacoboy thank for your info about the sky ray.
I’m looking on ebay some cheap gold version but they are not “King” version so wich difference?
from wich ebay sellers you have get the models works with less 4*battery?
thanks

I’ve never really cared what name the “Sky Ray King” is sold under.
I have a few that are Sky Ray Kung and one labeled “TangsPower”.
I’ll make bids on several gold or black Sky Ray Kings, ones with 3 or 4 LEDs and try to get the best price I can, final price with shipping is usually around $23.
I really like the grayish or Bronze colored King types and was willing to pay mpore for them, $30 (4 LEDs) to $41 (7 LEDs).
My TangsPower (7 XM-L L2 LEDs) I ordered directly from GearBest’s own website ($37.05).

bicycle-light, brotherhuang1983 and pflhobbyboy are three of the eBay sellers I have bought Kings/Kungs from.
I think two of those sellers are really the same, they just sell on eBay from several different accounts.

I just doubled check my 3 gray Kungs and my one Tangpower Bronze flashlights, they all work with just one 18650 battery installed.
I gave away all my gold and black ones, so I can’t currently double check them, but I had tried a few of them with one battery and they worked.

thank you
same question for the 6x Cree model
does it will work with less than 4*18650?

I would assume all the Sky Ray King types can work with less then 4 batteries, where it has 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 LEDs.
I do not have a 6 LED and have been trying to find a Bronze 5 LED for a good price.
Hopefully someone else will read this thread and have tried the 6 LED version.

Yep I got a couple of 6 LED versions and they will work with less than 4* 18650. If you look at it logically with all the batteries in parallel and the way it is inside, it can’t do anything but be able to work on less than 4 * 18650’s So as Tacoboy said all skyray king type’s can work with less than 4 batteries

A great powerful and handy flashlight, that’s what I am looking for , thanks guys .
but I found a cheaper one , I want to try this one

The Skyray King and clones all use parallel batteries (rather than series). This means a single battery will complete the circuit and the light will work. No matter the number of emitters.

However, a good SRK will pull about 7.5amps or so on high. You’d need a good quality IMR battery to achieve this and protected ICR’s might trip the protection circuit.

A single battery will also give you very short runtimes and you are pushing the battery pretty hard all the time. Which might reduce battery life cycle.

Also pushing any battery hard, even high performance ones, they will drop voltage quicker than when being pushed less hard. So brightness output will drop quicker and might not be as intense.

If runtimes aren’t an issue, then 2 IMR’s will work fine in an SRK. If you are using ICR’s, then I’d probably opt for no less than 3.

P.S.

Don’t use crappy Ultrafire batteries. They are generally rubbish with 500-1000mah despite what the label may claim and have massive voltage sag. Buy something better.
