My new X-Power 26650 HAIII flashlight

I recently acquired my first 26650 light (a real cheapie), and was really pleased with the heft and form factor (single 18650 battery).
So I plonked down some more money and got THIS.
It was delivered about 3-4 hours ago and I must say, I’m pretty darn pleased with it.
It’s bright, no blinkies (in 3-mode setting) , and levels are well-spaced.
Best thing is, it’s available in 3C tint  . This basically, was the determining factor in my decision to buy.
No more cool whites for me.
I’m really hopeless at the technical stuff so I’ll just let the pictures do the talking…
Btw, the design is very similar to my Convoy M1, so I shot them together.

OK… the negative stuff. Threads could’ve been a little deeper, and there was the tiniest of blemishes on the body (but you’d have to look really closely).
But for the price, I think it’s a quite a good buy. You get a holster, battery tube extender, and 26650-18650 battery converters.
Can’t wait for it to get dark… Oh, btw… I already have another 26650 light on the way. I hope it’s as good as this one.
(Keepin’ my fingers crossed) 8)

i kinda dig it. does it seem brighter than the m1?

Side by side against a white wall it appeared somewhat brighter than the Convoy M1 (2.8amp version, 3C tint).
The hotspot was a little smaller tho……
I’ll take them for a spin tonight and see

Is your reflector orange peel?
On the FastTech site there are four versions. The pictures show the black bezel models with OP reflector, and silver bezel models with smooth. The specs say one is OP, and three are SMO.

Mine’s OP.

Welcome to the world of 26650’s. There is no going back.

Thanks for the report BanglaBob. Seems like a pretty cool chunky style light. So the driver can handle 1S or 2S cells without any changes?

That's the reflector that works really well with MTG2. I even made an aluminum adapter ring to use one in a MTG2 C8, works much better than the C8 reflectors (any versions - XRE, XML, super-deep, etc.).

The light comes with a 20mm contact board, the driver itself isn't visible... anybody know what it is? LD-25/LD-29?

LD-29

That’s a good question, ImA4Wheelr.
The Fasttech webpage does not state the operating voltage, which is strange. Usually, 2 cell (in series) lights are rated up to 8.4v. but the specs do not mention this.
Anyway, as I said earlier, I like the shape and size of it in 1 x 26650 configuration, so that’s the way I’ll be using it.

LD-29 is OK with either 4.2v or 8.4v. https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/22177

Thanks comfychair. That settles it, then

I just realised that my LXP18650, bought from IOS, looks incredibly similar to the X-Power; even more so than the M1.
Who is copying who, or did they come from the same factory? The X-Power has a matt finish though, which I like better.

Convoy is just a rebrand stuck on generic lights that've been sold under other (or no) names for a while. Browse through CNQG/FF's OEM section for many examples.

Another new Convoy rebrand of a light that's been around forever:

Yeah… I see what you mean.
Buying online (from you-know-where) is always going to be a bit of a lottery.
That’s why we gotta keep spreading the word - our buying experiences and whatnot.
BLF rulzzzz…

BanglaBob - curious if you have any observations or comments on how much of a difference in brightness there is when using 1x26650 versus 2x26650 batteries?

Thanks!

Hi Tom. I know this sounds ridiculous but I’ve never tried it with 2 x 26650 batteries :stuck_out_tongue:
Basically, I wanted a compact 26650 light and never thought to use it that way. I already have four
2-battery lights that fulfill all my (present) needs. But I did read somewhere that it is a little brighter.

Thanks BanglaBob!

Very nice photos and info - appreciate your take on the X-Power. I am looking for a compact, but bright single rechargeable 26650 for EDC to supplement my primary cell Surefire Fury P2. The X-Power looks really good.

Thanks Tom. Now that I’ve had it a while, I’ve got this to say:
Its not as bright or throwy as my C8v3 (from IOS) but the tint is nicer, and it leans more toward flood than throw.
Build quality is good - feels weighty and solid in the hand. I like that.
Being short and fat it tailstands well, with no wobble.
There’s nothing truly outstanding about this light, but its size, fit and finish and overall quality gets it an approved rating in my book.
Overall I’m quite happy with my purchase
Btw, virtually the same light, but with the stainless steel bezel is found here:
