TrustFire T90-2 Luminus SST-90 @FASTTECH

More informations about this?

dedomed the sst-90 means a great loss of spill?

LOVE the look of this light- pity it’s over priced for what it is.

lol @ Trustfire

Okay not to review a dead thread, but I just got offered a great price on the T90-2 that sounds too good not to jump on—about half of what I’ve seen it going for elsewhere (not a normal price yet, just got lucky!). I can’t resist! I’ll let you guys know how it is.

Do you have a link? Or did you buy one from a private seller. I have been watching this light, and the best price I’ve seen is $187 and change from Fasttech. This is one I’d really like to add to the collection someday.

For now, call it a private seller. Right now, shipping is high (the vendor like DHL, and their prices are in line with actual shipping costs). If I can convince them to ship China Post, I’ll pass along the info here. But if China Post isn’t an option, the price will be around the same as FastTech/slightly higher. But, that being said, I might just end up paying up for the expensive/very fast shipping and live in comfort knowing I received an authentic product quickly. We’ll see how it goes.

TL;DR More questions need answering

unless of course, group buy.

Looking forward to your follow up Rollinstone. That light has been on my wish list for a long time.

I’ll look into a group buy. I think it could work. This is a fairly busy time of my life and I’ve never done a group buy before…so we’ll see

I would love a group buy on this light. Trustfire has a sketchy reputation, but I think a lot of that comes from counterfeits. In any case, the few Trustfire products that I have that I feel are genuine, are actually pretty well made. I edc’d a mini 01 for a year, and through lots of abuse, I never had a single issue with it. The T90-2 looks like the king of the line-up. I appreciate lights of all sizes, and sometimes I like a big - ass light like this to play around with. The emitter, fit and finish, styling, and even the packaging all appear to be winners on this one. I made a few purchases similar in price over the last month or so, and I wish this was one of them!

See, I have a different outlook on TrustFire. I have a really good contact. A really, really good contact. I know for a fact that when I order TrustFire products from her that I am getting the real deal. The last order I placed (1x AK-90, 3x Z5--the flashlight bug bit hard) was built on the 2nd of January, 2014. They're literally in perfect shape externally, I can't find a single flaw on them. I should be back in communication with her in the coming hours (time change), so I'll try and keep you guys in the loop.

Hey, so good news.

My rep is interested in a group buy, under the condition that I manage it. But if enough interest were gathered the price could be lowered for us. Shipping will be fast, trackable, insured, and expensive.

My rep works for TrustFire. I will provide all necessary documentation (trademark paperwork and certifications and such) to prove these are the real deal.

Now again, I have never run a group buy before. So I’m going to talk to some people about doing it. Alternatively, I may reach out to a site like Massdrop for assistance. So let me talk to forum admins, successful group buy runners, and perhaps some people over at Massdrop.

I hope OP has delivered

Gotta give you credit for saying it like it is. I think most folks here would prefer only the second option as long as they can pay via Paypal. Shipping directly from TF to the participants would probably save money and time.

I agree with a lot of what you’re saying.

The way I would do the group buy (so far) is:

  1. I would collect PayPal emails from people and send them to my rep
  2. She would email you the PayPal invoice, and you would plug in the payment/shipping address
  3. The package would be sent directly to you.

I do not have the space to handle many flashlight orders being sent to my place, it’s just not practical at this point in my life. And it seems like, if the flashlights are being “individually sent”, we have to use FedEx/UPS/DHL. I asked about China post, and they didn’t feel comfortable sending such large lithium batteries (3x32650!) and such a large, heavy box through that service. Understandable, if you ask me. So we must bend to the shipping oligopoly’s will unfortunately. However, if it’s shipping via one of those methods, you’re pretty much guaranteed for it to arrive to you in perfect condition. So that’s nice.

The alternative (as I said before) is that I set it up w/ Massdrop. The advantage with that is a streamlined payment system, I don’t have to worry about managing the group buy (people backing out, missing payments, yada yada), and it could get an even larger exposure (easier to share through social networking) and therefore a lower price per unit. The disadvantage to that method is that Massdrop will want a cut, so we may see some price “gains” lost.

I’m going to make a thread asking for a feeler.

Sounds like a good idea. One last thought. You may get more participation if the cells are an option or if they are not included. Those cells are expensive and some already have cells. You may want that in the feeler question.

That’s a good point. I’ll definitely consider that.

However, the presentation of the whole kit is quite nice—there’s a nice aluminum carrying case w/ foam cutouts for the charger and batteries. But again, I’ll ask.

interesting, so does that side switch only change modes? or can i turn it on/off too? because i notice it still has a tail cap switch.
if the side switch turns on/off, ill be interested in the group buy

To the more experienced forum members—where do you think I should put the feeler thread for maximum exposure on this site?

i think to start a new threaad under 26650 light column title it something with group buy in it.

Well, I’ve been playing with this light for a little while, and I do like it. TrustFire claims the driver puts out about 9A at the emitter to a SST-90. Another one of their lights, the X7, takes to the MT-G2 remarkably well.

After tossing an MT-G2 into this light, the numbers are quite astonishing. I haven’t been able to run a full battery (ha) of tests, because it trips the protection circuit on 3x 32650’s. But I saw about 7A at the tail before it tripped. Going to do some serious reinforcing of this light now. This is going to get interesting…
