TJI, since I want to be extra open about anything relating to this, they also offered me the discount for trying to organizing the group buy for the forum. I'm a bit conflicted in this because I don't want to be special but OTOH I don't think others will want to help organize buys for the forum if they can't even get the group rate, so if anyone objects to it as a sort of morale hazard, please let me know and I'll pull out.

I agree, as long as the person organising is open about any gain they are getting from organising stuff like this then fair dues as they/you are the one doing the work.
If people were hiding anything about any personal gain, and they things were found out, that is when people get the bad taste in their mouths.
Be open and honest and let some of us newbies get the benefits that we would not normally be able to get.
That is my two pennies anyway.
