How to remove emitter

Seems thermal paste would not be good enough and they used thermal glue. Any suggestions how to remove it in one piece?

Heat it up. I removed a few emitters glued in like this. Desolder and remove the driver, set the pill on top of a hot plate and use needle node pliers to put some lateral torque on the emitter's base plate while heating it up. After a minute or two it should come off.

And, most important, don't just grab the pill with your bare hand afterwards, because you're distracted by contemplating the emitter and in a hurry to get back to your work shop. It's really painful...

OK will give that a shot thanks.

Freezing it always worked for me, might be better for the led.

Mild heat, then the freeze if that fails

Put it in the freezer for awhile came out with abit of force(not too much) Now my C8 has a R5 pulling 1.4a at the tail @4.12v . Throws a mile mmm well 80m easy .Will try the smooth reflector tomorrow and compare with my brothers that still has its Q5.

That's a great mod for that light. That's a good current for an XP-G too.

It was a good light with the Q5, with the R5 its a great light. now of course the Q5 is going tto replace a P4 and the P4 some no name once I get the time.

Tried getting a beam shot at 20meters but its so grainy I won't post it.New camera soon though.
