LED close-ups.

thanks its looks clear.so we have more choose it.

Those pictures are Do great! Just keep doing.

Great help! Especially for flashlights without labels about what type of light they use. Thanks Foy!

There are not pics, are they deleted? I want to have a look

I can see the pictures. Maybe flickr is blocked for you?

Great Macro shots. Exquisite.

Ron

thanks for sharing. i first saw led chip clear

great, i first time look the LED flashlight inside the picture.

Hello Foy nice bit of macro photography. I have attempted extreem close ups before on a few other subjects but not as clear as your results. May I ask what camera setup and lighting you used.

Thanks Rob

It's a much abused Canon PowerShot SX20 IS. They have a newer one out now, I think. Lighting is a problem. I can't stop it down as much as I want because everywhere in our new place is too dark.

Foy

I have some Nikon point and shoot and a D40 SLR when I finish my bathroom remodel for the wife I will try some flashlight closeup photography. As they say photography is 99% lighting. BTW does anyone on BLF work for CREE is any new LED in the product pipeline beyond the XM-L? You photos makes me want to tour an LED factory haha

I would love to see you they make them.

Foy

Assuming you are in Grand Rapids, you are "only" 830 miles from Durham, NC where Cree make their LEDs. ;)

I'd like to see them being made too.

Cree's most recent products seem to be various arrays aimed at the lightbulb replacement market which is where the real money will be.

Luminus don't seem to have done much new lately - I still fancy a CSM-360 in a light though the reflector would have to be huge as it is basically four SST-90's glued together.

http://www.luminus.com/products/datasheets/PDS-001353_Luminus_CSM-360-W,%20Product%20Datasheet.pdf

The battery pack would have to be kinda big too - it is a 40W device but could probably take a bit more current. And who needs throw when you have 6000 lumens?

I could see someone making a car mounted spotlight using one of these - it has roughly the output of a 400W incandescent bulb.

Don, Grand Rapids is not a bad guess on my location, I am 1hour south of Grand Rapids so I would only need to travel about 770 miles to Cree (hmm how to convince the wife this would be worthwhile). I would expect something for luxury cars soon in forward lighting aka headlamps or driving lights. Car companies hate to spend money on development until someone else does it first than it is monkey see monkey do.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDcMarYHknA&feature=related here is a u tube clip of LED manufacturing in asia pretty cool

Don take a look at the led manufacturing video i found and put on this thead kinda cool the plant looks like it is in China or HK nice armchair factory tour. I Like that CSM-360 I looked at the specs maybe it could be driven by three good 18650s in series that would make one hell of flame thrower flashlight

this is pretty cool. thanks for the pics.

thanks from my part too! i have lights with XP-E, XP-G, and XM-L. and the LED's look the same as in your pics!!

Cool, thanks for so many details. Would like to have one~

Great thread, thx for sharing Foy!
