Just another Copper Smoothie scratch build It's Done, with beam shots

Love how you think up the solutions to the standard problems. All comes together so easily…well for us it appears to anyway! Well done, this should really be a nice looking light. Maybe you should collaborate with Scott and get it some custom made copper cooling fins? Jam for the sliced bread…

+1 - loving this so far...

I, as always, stand amazed at what you can do!! Surprised

Anxious to see the finished light!!

Dan.

Your a SICK man OL, and I love it!!!

Where do you get those cool little switches? And do they make one with the button on the side?

+1 and the cover Please!! Tongue Out

Dan.

The best and cheapest place to get cool switches from is to place switches in the fridge for about two hours. For really cool switches they go in the freezer for about the same amount of time.

Wise Guy huh, Why I oughta…

Do they ship them in freezer packs or do you have take dorky ones and chill them yourself?

Pardon the interruption, OL. We’re dealing with a wiseroo here.

I think our Aussie friend has stood on his head ...AGAIN.... just a little too long! Tongue Out

The switches are SMD momentary and come from Spark Fun. I solder them to XM-L stars, because the spacing is close enough to work. Not perfect, but close enough.

The Rubber Buttons came from Fasttech.

Glad to see your new shipment of Meds arrived.

Buenos notches. The hands take a beating. I think maybe that’s why the call it hand work. Small lip on the spacer ring w/o-ring? Similar to the lip in the head.

You mean an “O” ring groove on the body? I’ve thought about it, but I have never tried one. It’s such a tight fit now, I don’t know if an “O” ring could fit.

Like This???

Great work as always cant wait to see the end result.

You put a lip on the head to retain the glass. If you put a lip on the split ring in the same fashion then the p60 would be centered by the split ring and also press against the new lip - which presses against the glass - which presses against an o-ring - and finally against the lip in the head. Spring pressure from the battery keeps it all in place. This allows a snug fit for the pill since to remove it you just press on the glass and it all slides out. No need to make new parts just add the lip.

Edit, like this:

A thin smear of silicon allowed to skin over but not cure and then assemble the light and no o-ring would be needed just make the retainer a bit looser (easy press fit).Even with an o-ring those notches should still work, the spring will just compress a bit more.

Napoleon Bonaparte had such an idea and imposed it on the countries he controlled. It is called the metric system. But when I was in Germany, they used US inches for seat belt fasteners and their own old unit close to it for plumbing.
Nice flashlight! Don’t think it needs fins with all that copper.

OL and Rufusbduck working together. Doesn’t get any better than that. Try this link. I think you may enjoy some of there works as well.

Together, they might just conquer darkness for good!
