My Yezl Y3 Has Arrived!

Speaking of that one, it is between these two that I can’t quite decide which throws further. They throw differently, that is for sure—the 2010 with a much fatter and wider beam having an almost neutral tint. But they both throw like heck. Tell me which you think throws further when you get them. I can only test in the city at present and just can’t tell a difference at the longest ranges. But they are both dynamite lights. The Yezl looks slightly cooler.

And thanks for the vote of confidence in my judgment!

Y3 is sold out already and Wallbuys was the only store that carried them. I hope they’ll restock soon.

yesterday i have the yezl y3
10 days buy- at my home very good from wallbuys!!
good pakkage too

ist a great light.

It’s better than a HD2010 with slightly larger reflector.

the spill is greater at further distance, but I dare say as much light intensity at a distance, it highlights a little wider.
the color is what I call lemon white / yellow but I find it very good color for this.
completion of the flashlight is good and you feel a little more grip in the hand than the HD 2010
the memory button on the body is very valuable.
He is about 1-1.5 cm longer than an HD 2010
I have already done the spring mod also with the HD2010 today.
the hd 2010 I have a very noticeable difference! do!

the driver is 2.5 amps according to site wallbuyss

someone has already modded this flashlight?
I think it interresting for a good 3 amps available.

can we soldering chips ?

Wallbuys still has the one that comes with two extensions to run 1/2/3x26650, is the driver a boost driver? Because in the specs sheet it says that the input is in the 2-cell range.

where did you guys bought the HD 2010? I got this light few days ago… definitely have smaller hotspot than HD 2010 but the head is about the same when you put it back to back with HD 2010 :expressionless:

the driver seems to be modable with simple resistor mod

I got my HD2010 from Willbuying (3-mode, XM-L2 in black).

@penumbra
What about heat transfer? Does it get warm fast?

No, I can say that the flashlight on my walk of + –20 minutes do not get hot.

if I would perhaps modding maximum 0.5-1 amp? now it is 2.5 amps according wallbuyss

That doesn’t sound good. Since it’s so bright the actual current to the emitter is probably more than 2,5A. And it should get quite warm after 20 minutes on highest mode.

Well, let’s not assume too much; this isn’t a namebrand light, so we don’t quite expect the same measures that Fenix or Olight would take to build the light. And yet, it is very well built and performs well even by their standards — with the same being said over various people who bought them. All seem to have gotten the same, nice little powerful light. That says something.

If it were badly heatsinked, output drop would be an issue, but I can’t see that it is. No, it’s not a modded toy, but for a budget light, Yezl has exhibited excellent care in every respect so far as I can see. I’m surprised with how solid it feels and how nicely it performs. Like I said, poor man’s TN31.

Anyone know if the Type A (1*18650) and Type C (1/2/3 * 18650) versions are the same, just with more battery tubes?

(ie, can I buy one of each and have two 2*18650 Y3s?)

I can’t see there being a difference. But I wonder if this thing would be brighter on 2 or more cells (and I wonder why they put 8.4 volts for max current if it uses three cells). Someone should order Type C and let us know. They both appear to be back in stock.

Just did another runtime test, ending it at 30 minutes since the light gets warm very slightly all over, but not hot. Nice and stable output all the while. This is one well made light. Anyone considering it should get it if they haven’t.

I ordered one of each.

I can only but agree that the flashlight feels very good
mine came with the 18650 holder.

Ordered one, type A, 10% off with coupon. It doesn't list any in stock, and has a suspicious note saying 3-7 days for processing...

Dang! This thing’s gonna have diabolical, tenth-level-of-hell output when you get done with it!

does anyone else notice the light is on beacon mode after it shut off?
I mod’ed mine with simple copper braided both springs… can’t seem to be able to take the driver out and head is glued :expressionless:
after I put the light down sideway, I notice the LED emitter is blinking… hmm it make a nice camping light I guess, so you don’t have to fumble in the dark to find it, on the other hand… it drain the battery faster :~
dang it… I have a high hope about resistor mod on this light, now it seems almost impossible :_(

Even with the tail-cap switch off?

yup…the light start beacon mode after it was shut off… I have to unscrew the tail cap almost completely in order to turn it off completely.
just wondering if anyone else who has this light can chime in
