Just some quick first impressions of the DQG Spy that i won from CNQG’s giveaway a while ago.
Mine was supposed to be a pre-production sample, but since i got a neutral tinted xp-g2 instead of the xp-g CW i was supposed to receive i can’t say for sure if it’s “the real deal” or a bit rough compared to the ones for sale.
Olight I2, olight A3T and DQG Spy
DQG Spy on low and high, ~1 meter from the wall:
tank007 e09 on low, med and high:
The flashlight is as can be seen very tiny!
-there’s barely any reflector, so it can be considered a mule.
-the knurling is quite pleasant, but the grooves on the tail is quite sharp.
on low i measured 26mA with a fresh battery, and on high 270mA.
-you tighten the flashlight to turn on the low mode, and then you tighten it even more to get the high mode.
-because of it’s tiny size i’d say that one-handed operation is very hard, but if you keep it on a keychain it’s no problems
-since it’s a mule it’s most effective providing light close up. keeping the flashlight in your hand hanging low it can light up the ground around your feet, but not much away. turn on high and you see a little bit more…
might add a couple of pictures with the batteries and the metal box that the flashlight arrived in. (the batteries are supposed to be 10x18mm, so they’re really tiny!)
-i charged the batteries with the help of some magnets in a cheap “faulty” charger i have, that only charges with 100mA instead of the claimed 1A. I’m waiting for some SMD-resistors so i can make a tp4056 charging board with ~50mA charge current for these batteries
-there’s tritium on the tail, but even after several minutes in a dark room i can barely see a faint glow if i move it ~15cm in front of my eyes. at an arms length i can’t see it. i hope i just got a faulty one, but i can’t complain since i got it for free.
-i haven’t done any run tests, and i don’t know if there’s any low voltage protection, so i might not do any neither.
feel free to ask more questions!
