Recommend decent but not expensive butane "jet" lighter/torch!

I bought a bunch of these about a year ago and gave them out as gifts.

So far so good, all are still working fine. I like these because you don’t have to fuss with the cap. The cap lifts up when you press the trigger and closes when you release. Easy one handed operation. I think the one my fellow MMA fan pounder recommended does the same thing also.

if your lighters give one bad flame ,no prussure, ugle flame or they are dirty there is one good solution work like new again and it is very easy

I got one of these as a gift a few years ago. Maybe not quite what you’re looking for but it has worked real well for me. I like that it uses cheap lighters as the fuel source.

???

if your jet lightner not working properly you need the gas can where you fill them once they purge.

just a 3x hard by pressing where the flame comes out and he goes back as new.

OK, some interesting recommendations here thanks all, I inspected them all and, of course, found some things I have not paid attention at first:

- dual or triple flames: although interesting they produce too much heat for my use (reflow, hot glue melting, plastic welding…) it’s hard to control them precisely because they have two (or 3) heating points and they burn fuel much faster,

- I kind of got used to see how much fuel there’s left so transparent reservoir would be nice feature,

- also noticed that there are names or brands among lighters like HONEST that with many different models which leads me to think that they are developing them and producing, not just copyng popular designs

  • I also see a pattern in basic shape of good jet burners which would be something like this:

When I was a smoker, I bought some of those jet butane lighter from DX.
http://dx.com/p/jet-1300-c-butane-lighter-1320 I have 3 of that model, 1 got a problem, I can’t have a good pressure (si the flame is not a jet).

http://dx.com/p/honest-1300-c-butane-jet-lighter-11868 this one is much much better, but lack the lock function is you need that. As a cigare or windproof lighter, it works perfectly. The head is metal unlike the first one. Not that on the first one it will melt (but maybe idk). Honest product are quite good quality, for budget price.

I’ve got one of the lighters in your first link, I carry it in my EDC pouch I’ve not used it much but it’s held a full tank of gas for 18 months or so.
I’ve had a lot more expensive lighters than that and they wouldn’t hold gas for one month never mind 18.

I’ve had several of these Jet 1300 from the first post, but they always get stolen by my friends!!!
In half times the flame locking mechanism wont work. If the flame is stangely shaped, just blow air in with your mouth, it’s probably something in there.

OK, so I saw this nice chunky lighter over at DX, big & nice reservoir and shiny flame barrel

but it’s 23.33 bucks :expressionless: well, that part of the story didn’t stick with me very well.

I decided to get this one from FT next time I place an order: HONEST Zinc Alloy Butane Jet Torch Lighter $16.12

on a first seeing it looks like a solid, trustworthy lighter!?

That $23.33 lighter, the four small pictures in the bottom left corner, one of them says baking ceramic TEETH. :Sp

“baking porcelain teeth” brings up lots of results for jet torches! Maybe it’s a cheap way of sanitising?

hallo.this thread is dead, but can anyone help me to choose any good firestarter? as edc.into the forest….hanks

I carry one of them torches that was mentioned here. Or u can use the tradional flint

I know it is not firestarter but just to give an info what I bought:
THis:

and I am not that impressed, I have to disassemble it occasionally for cleaning, otherwise doesn’t work…

Anyone use isobutane propane mix? Most mixes are usually around 80/20. Filling adapter
One reason to use an iso/pro mix is that butane doesn’t work below freezing. Its boiling point is 0°C; 32°F.

+1

This is the only lighter I’ve ever seen stand up to more than a year of normal use other than an old-school Zippo.

I bought two of these: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Fashionable-Creative-Jet-Flame-Cigar-Lighter-with-Practical-Function-Black/32226964956.html $2.29
They work decently, apart from the nonfunctional lock. One didn’t ignite since the sparking wire (?) was a bit too short but that was easily fixed by taking the lighter apart and removing some of the plastic coating from the wire, resulting in a bigger spark.

I make my own winter blends of 70% n-butane and 30% propane for my mini torch lighters which will work up to –25C. i-butane works up to –12C and is as expensive as n-butane lighter refill canisters.

I’m a cigar smoker and I go through lighters like changing underwear and the best no nonsense torch lighters I use are these ones mini torch lighters that is based on the ultra expensive Blazer PB-207.
The Tin Pioneer aka DX Lighter, Blue Flame mini-torch for less than $2.00usd vs the genuine Japanese made Pocket Blazer at more than $110.00usd !
