New Roche F6 EDC XM-L2 Single 18650. $20.99 shipped.

Thanks for giving me the confidence to go at it  I used channel lock pliers with a thick rubber band and was finally able to get the bezel off! Didn’t leave any marks at all.

I moved the o-ring that was already inside the light from under the glass to on top of the glass and success, no more rattle!

Thanks again

The only thing I got from this F6 order without Charging Head Price is Only Flashlight…

They didn’t said that + Charging Head is also + Attack head.

They written it in their site that the package is + Attack Head…

I just realized i never recieved any “attack head” either, if there is somthing that supposed to screw into the threaded base there was nothing in my package… was i missing another part including the missing charger head ?

Update for my F6 driver:

Boards arrived, I populated one (should have made a photo; will do when I flash a new firmware next time) and wrote a firmware for it, based on mokkadrv, but highly configurable, and making use of 2 status LEDs:

By default it has 3 modes, L,M,H (number of modes and brightness levels can be reconfigured).

When off: A short click switches to the last mode (high), a long press starts in the first mode (low), keep holding the button to get to the higher modes. A double-click starts strobe. So no memory - but that can be changed, see below.

When on, a short click switches off, a press&hold cycles through the modes in a L-M-H-M-L-M... fashion.

A very long press/hold activates the battery indicator; the red status LED blinks the number of full volts, the blue one the tenths of a volt, e.g. 3*red, 8*blue means 3.8V.

A 4*click (4 quick taps) let you change the current modes' brightness by then ramping up&down via press&hold, a short click sets that new level - temporarily, i.e. it does not survive a power loss. So you can adapt the levels to your current situation without changing your standard config; but it can be made permanent, see below.

A 6*click leads to lockout mode, the light can be reactivated by a 3*click.

An 8*click brings you to the configuration menu, where you can
- add or delete a mode
- configure whether a short click when off starts the light in the first mode (low), last mode (high; default) or memory.
- configure whether a long click when off starts in the first mode (low; default), last mode (high), memory or ramping.
- permanently save your current configuration, reload it, or restore the factory defaults.

18kHz PWM, step-down on low battery (3.0V), shutdown at 2.8V.

I have plans for a couple more features, and some of them before I'll release these (e.g. currently double-click and triple-click lead to strobe and can't be changed).

I also ordered some components (resistors, status LEDs etc) so I can send kits (board and components) later.

Although I know nothing about the driver part of these lights I am very interested in a dr jones driver upgrade for this already very nice light.
Looking forward to the finished product!

this is a long thread…could someone give me an executive lazy man’s summary?

i got….interesting product, good price, problems with product delivered, and now awesome drjones driver (almost) available

so, if i order one, what issues might it show up with? and is there a review posted here yet?

thanks!

Wow! I WANT ONE!!!

I want the driver also DrJones  I dont have this flashlight but that is not important
btw, how big this driver is?
P.S. I would like DIY version :stuck_out_tongue:

How much to swap if I send you my flashlight?

And no excuses, shutup and take my money!

Torch. Too lazy?

A torch? Better?

Cheap torch?

Cheap torch, apparent quality for dollars.

Cheap torch, slow delivery. Must be from the car maker, Bitsamissing.

Fine, this is all you get…

Where is it? Im waiting? Its on the way, website says in stock? Has said that for days, not in stock. These move quickly. Arrrrghhhhh! Want my money back. Got my money back. Still waiting, its worth it. Banggood is honest about lumens, 500. Needs better driver (this bit gets good later, stay tuned). Cant work out he mode change side switch, takes getting used to. Complicated process to change modes described. They ‘poked’, Pok (no offence dude).

Can only install unprotected cells, too short. Happy new year!! Paypal dispute, refund. Local BLF Mafia threatened Hello Kitty Lunchpails with the Yangtze, it was tragic. YAYYY! Got one, booo, no charger head (throws plastic keys from pram). p_k says flicker in middle mode (no, not Pok, p_k, keep up), mine too at start, self fixing, no response from p_k. Extra no charger heads. You too!, Yeah me too!. Aww. Some lies about an F6 transformer from FastTech trying to Schwarzenegger its way into a members home (Im me. No youre me, Im you!!). QUOTE!, it does take protected cells, Panasonic 18650B’s. Skip forward, seiko protection works, so not Panasonics of all persuasions. it seems. Charger head, what charger head. Rep apologises. p_k has a small firelike event. Any room for an 8x7135 driver (remember I said driver will come back later, stay tuned? You do? Stay tuned still). Dr Jones pops in, stays stealthy quiet (thats a teaser) except to say, still waiting. DrJones GOT ONE!!! likes it essentially except the UI (not the UI again), but no room for driver change, I assume this starts the thinking process (you will need to wait for the smoke to clear, just like everyone else did). Dr Jones dares himself (CHALLENGE accepted). Confucius say light in pocket, easy to shine light on rocket. Duel proposed over protected cells, Panasonic from Wallbuys also fit. Rules and decorum prevented it, much bloodshed prevented (we are not animals). Thread starter, the OP, the Kahuna of this thread of which you are reading, still hasnt got one. LOL Lol. Missing charger head club started. Charger head resend arrives, free torch YAY!!, no charger head (snicker snicker). Some people holding breath still. Dr Jones tried backdoor, got head (charger head, shakes head, no, my head. You people are filthy). EBAY to the rescue, how odd. Driver chit chat, egging on Dr Jones. Like he needed it, I saw the smoke. Boaz was complaining about Dr Jones and size, not sure whats going on there but it all ended well with a comment re banggood. Thickness he shouts. Again, no idea, dont want to. Pok got his charger head (yes, Pok, keep up). Dr Jones pretty drawing. Site was flooded with charger heads, it was awful I tells ya, oh the hugemanatee. Someone asked about changingg the driver, anyone have any ideas, he didnt keep up. See I told ya, its best to keep up. YAY!!, He caught up. Rattly reflector, unscrew bezel, fit spare oring, voila. What I never mentioned this earlier. True. I have now, what do you want from me? Here, read the thread about how to get the bezel off. LOL< no attack heads. No one thought about these babies. Dr Jones reveals the beast (the driver board, you people really need help). And then someone asked for a summary.

*me inhales.

lmao, ok thanks

and i’ll add, coupon expired

Alright, Today I finally received my charge head.
But it does not want to charge my samsung galaxy S4.
I tried an USB headlight and it does power on so the charge head is working, it just doesn’t want to charge my phone.
Will try it with a different phone later, but all this trouble, all this time, and it just doesn’t work for me :weary:

After a few e-mails to CS ,“Flashlight Expert - Alysonhe” and Neal - it was agreed that my flashlight does not work and a replacement order for a new flashlight and the missing charger head was placed .That was on Feb,2nd,2014 . Suddenly - it all started all over again - “Processing” then in a couple of days - “Back ordered” .It has been like that for 2 weeks.Contacted Neal to work something out for a different flashlight - not very good offer on my first pick, still waiting to hear from him for the other couple of models.Since contacting Neal 2 days ago - status of order changed last night to “Processing” again. It looks like BG has problem supplying this light and it shouldn’t have been offered for sale, in first place . Sending e-mail to CS to ask for refund .

Mailed Banggood regarding missing parts. Got an answer real quick: Would I like resend? Yes, please! Today a couple of weeks later a parcel from China arrived. Now I can add to my flashlight an extra o-ring, clip, strap and glass breaking tail. Thanks Bangood now I’m good!

Maybe this has been covered elsewhere. I’m maybe interested in getting this ‘light’ but with the charger head only. What I really want is a tough and well made battery storage pack. Like the 4x18650 power packs with usb in and usb out, but not made of weak non-sealed plastic. I’d like it to be aluminium with o-ring and no space or money wasted for a flashlight.

The main things I want in it really are:
1.) aluminum ‘good’ construction; decent threads, can take protect or non protected 18650, O-ring seals).
2.) ‘good’ output; perhaps 1.5 amp output ability or so, ability to discharge to at least 3 volts
3.) ‘good’ input; any usb input plug is acceptable (prefer micro), but a decent charging routine
3a. CC/CV charging routine
3b. Actually charges the battery to 4.2 volts (or real close)
3c. I see a lot of stuff that ‘looks’ like this (sometimes with a cheap grade led in the end, don’t care for it but not a big deal), however they seem to have bad charging routines (terminate charge early, unstable charging routine is not CC/CV, or a both of those things and other problems as well).

If I understand correctly the roche F6 with charger head is a bit bulky (how much dose that actually weigh with only charger head?), but had a good charging routine and a good power output ability. Is this right?

Is there an option more well suited to what I’m trying to accomplish here?

2.) re edited : 4.1 even 4.05 volts would be ok
1.) re edited : Protected battery capability is not ‘necessary’

4.) Consistent is necessary, I don’t want a product with massive variation (one unit charges to 4.25 volts, the next charges to 3.9 volts, etc. a few of us will run these and we want the same stuff : )

Here are some pictures showing the weight of the components:

No clue about how far it charges/discharges, I don’t have a volt meter. I would assume that a dedicated charger would always give better and consistent results than a screw-on head that’s an accesoire to a flashlight. Can’t tell you much about the max output either, because I don’t own any ipads or other apple products. My phones (android/wp8) and my PS Vita charge with 1.1amp max.

Specification on the head says:
IN: 5V1A
OUT: 5V1A

But then, it charges the Vita, which is a feat in itself, as that device is very picky and won’t charge on my good quality USB wallcharger for example.

I’m not sure what you want to do with it. You can’t get the tube without the flashlight head as far as I know, so you’re always short of 30-40USD for a 3400mah (max) power bank. Dedicated power banks with that capacity are way cheaper than that. So is a Lipo guard storage bag. Using/storing USB plugs in wet condidtions isn’t a great idea either.

Well I knew about the specification quoted for input/output, figuered about the ‘not buying it without flashlight head’.
I did not know about the weight, thanks a bunch for that information.

Yeah, it’s too much cost for what I want to use it for I suppose, mainly I don’t want to carry 80 grams of enclosure to carry another 40 grams of battery, this would go into our backpacks for the semi-long hike. ounces = pounds and pounds = PAIN, it’s cliche but it is so true.

Nice scale btw, like the pretty blue backlite, it takes pictures well

I got the scale from fasttech: https://www.fasttech.com/p/1095103
I don’t use it regulary, but wanted to have a halfway exact scale for these kind of questions (I’m a bit into RC flying, where weighting your payload is useful).

Just ordered another one from FT - my third one - because I just designed an RGBW driver board for the F6.

Can anybody tell me why there is a hole in the F6 head, opposite the side switch?

Seems like they meant to put something there, like an indicator LED. It certainly isn’t waterproof….i can see the wires inside.
