So I had some money in my budget to blow on a new toy. I at first was going to purchase a SRK to mod, but while browsing Securitying’s store on Amazon I came across a 26650-supported version of this flashlight . A 2/3x 26650 flashlight with five XM-L’s in the head, a pleasing champagne-ish brown, and a meaty look to it.
It arrived today, about an hour ago.
I didn’t order a bike light…
Okay…that is what I ordered. But it was shipped all in one bag. Not feeling too confident.
Right off the bat, two broken -rings. At least it included the spacers.
Ah-hah. Lots of little nicks in the anodizing. All over the tube.
The head was not spared damage either.
The tailcap switch. Standard disassembly. Unmarked, generic, complete with a cold-soldered tab and a second ready to break off.
Skinny, stiff wires. Boost driver, pulls 1.13 amps off a stack of three Samsung –28A’s.
At least the reflector and lens arrived without flaw.
Thermal paste everywhere, thankfully not on any of the domes. Centering rings designed to thieve a few lumens from the reflectors.
The reflector cups are 1mm greater in diameter [24mm] than a Trustfire 3T6.
As compared to aforementioned 3T6 and a Defiant 3D 650lm.
For $54 I was hoping the light would arrive in better condition. The unsoldered tail switch, the wonky centering rings could have been dealt with, but the damage to the finish is inexcusable for what was paid. I’ll be sending it back as soon as I can print out the postage.
