[Review, in-box] Securitying 5x XM-L 3x26650 flashlight

So I had some money in my budget to blow on a new toy. I at first was going to purchase a SRK to mod, but while browsing Securitying’s store on Amazon I came across a 26650-supported version of this flashlight . A 2/3x 26650 flashlight with five XM-L’s in the head, a pleasing champagne-ish brown, and a meaty look to it.

It arrived today, about an hour ago.

I didn’t order a bike light…

Okay…that is what I ordered. But it was shipped all in one bag. Not feeling too confident.

Right off the bat, two broken -rings. At least it included the spacers.

Ah-hah. Lots of little nicks in the anodizing. All over the tube.

The head was not spared damage either.

The tailcap switch. Standard disassembly. Unmarked, generic, complete with a cold-soldered tab and a second ready to break off.

Skinny, stiff wires. Boost driver, pulls 1.13 amps off a stack of three Samsung –28A’s.

At least the reflector and lens arrived without flaw.

Thermal paste everywhere, thankfully not on any of the domes. Centering rings designed to thieve a few lumens from the reflectors.

The reflector cups are 1mm greater in diameter [24mm] than a Trustfire 3T6.

As compared to aforementioned 3T6 and a Defiant 3D 650lm.

For $54 I was hoping the light would arrive in better condition. The unsoldered tail switch, the wonky centering rings could have been dealt with, but the damage to the finish is inexcusable for what was paid. I’ll be sending it back as soon as I can print out the postage.

Bummer, I’ve had lights shipped to me in pieces like that. Such a dumb thing that could be easily fixed with some bubble wrap. :weary:

At least you get to deal with Amazon.

That is one big benefit of buying from Amazon. I got a big halogen that came in messed up and boom I sent it back. It didn’t cost me a dime and no muss or fuss. Got my money back in about a week and half I think. Something like that anyway.

I see that securitying has a bunch of clones at good prices.

I’ll be honest…kinda thinking about keeping it at this point. Simply because its a non-black 3x26650 multi-emitter flashlight, and those are rare.

Those XM-Ls seem to be driven pretty mildly; only about 13W total, 2.6W each... Embarassed

That was packed by Americans, no excuse for that!
You really should send it back and get another. Amazon NEEDS to know about this kind of crap. Do it for our sake, one of us could be affected next.

I suppose. Too late to tonight but it should go to the UPS store tomorrow. In exchange, does someone know of a non-black, 3x26650 flashlight for $60 or less?

Also, I doubt the contents of the box was packed here. I think the light parts were thrown into the bubble wrap bag in China and was always like that through the fulfillment warehouse.

What is the diameter of the driver? I’ve got one of these in the mail and I guess I better start figuring out what will fit in there.

I got mine today. Same 1.1A with three E-Moli 26650. I wasn’t planning on keeping the driver anyway. I remembered your thread and had to refer to it to see how the driver comes out. It’s what I thought, but mine is so tight it won’t move. Now that I know that’s how it comes out for sure, I’ll keep struggling.

It’s funny. I had it three minutes, turned it on for 30 seconds and had it all apart for modding. I didn’t even wait for night. The PWM on low is so bad I can see it with my bare eyes. I’ve never noticed PWM before.
From the hot spot, it looks like a thrower.

I’ve got mine running at 4.2A per emitter. It’s really blasting light. I’m really liking this light a lot. The texture of the body is great. With the smallish head, it’s very balanced to hold. Not unwieldly at all, or heavy.
