Flashlight for my bike

Thanks for your explanation.

How is high and low voltage defined?
The 504B comes with a low voltage drop-in, right?

I'm of the same opinion to carry a spare battery seperately. And a XM-L running with 1x18650 for about 2,5 hours @ medium should be sufficient for me.

Are L2 and 504B also waterproof like the L2 clone with extension tube?

What shall I do now? Order the 504B from DX or Manafont and hope that the flashlight will be delivered in good quality?
Or ordering the more expensive L2 directly from Solarforce Sales?

This is what I have and use and would recommend for a starter kit. I really think you will be super happy with this setup. This is the cheapest way to get the most light.

$45 dollars for everything you need to get started. You could add an extra pair of batteries for another $10 dollars or upgrade to the Solarforce for another $20 if you want but you won't get anymore light out of it.

High voltage is usually defined as over 4.2 volts which is what one lion battery delivers this would be a low voltage setup. This setup will be completely waterproof and of excellent quality.

Look really good at the picture of the lights I posted that is what DX is delivering right now so I think you will be happy with the quality I am very picky and very happy with the quality of this light especially for this price.

Here is a review of the 504B host.

Thanks for the list.
I’m about to place the order for the complete kit.
The 504B comes with a 5-mode drop-in. Is there also a 4-(no SOS) or 3-mode version of the drop-in with a on-while-pushing-mode available?
Has DX the best prices for all parts or should I check in some other shops?
Will DX send out all in one shipment or will the single parts be shipped seperately? I’m asking because of customs.

DX has the best prices by far some times they do take a while to ship. DX does not offer anything except a 5 or 1 mode version of the XML drop in if you want a 3 mode you will have to order from Manafont. I can give you a parts list from Manafont if you want they do ship faster most of the time but you will pay a little more money. It is hard to say if it will all ship in one package usually DX labels the contents toys or electronics so customs usually doesn't mess with them. What country are you in?

Thanks. I would prefer a 4-mode dropin with a one-while-pushing-only-mode. Is such a dropin available?
So I would order the parts seprately.
And the parts of Manafont are of the same quality than the ones of DX?
At least your lately ordered 504Bs are, right?
And one more thing: Can you recommend a pocket for the flashlight and a case for one or two batteries?

But there is no dropin with a on-while-pushing-only-mode? Or is this a standard feature?
If this is standard I will opt for the 5 mode and take the complete 504B from DX?
The battery case looks very good.
What about a good pocket the flashlight fits perfectly in?

Has the 504B a forward clickie? It isn’t mentioned in the detials.
That would mean that I could turn on the light by pushing without click. I sometimes accompany a friend who is hunter and it would be definitely disturbing to have to click through all modes when light is required only very short.
I have already seachered for a pocket. But who can advise if the pocket will fit adequately to the flashlight?
I thought that there would be a favourite you guys are using.

If you want a forward clickie you are going to have to get a solarforce they are the only ones I know of that have a bargain priced forward clickie.

This one is nice for $17

Is the 504B is a reverse clickie?
Reverse clickie is a no-go for me as you have to click through all modes until light is finally off.
The L2T body looks really nice to me, thanks for the advise.
So I will still have to order the parts seperately.
Where is a XM-L 6T dropiin available at the lowest price and best quality, at DX or somewhere else?
E1320, can you recommend a good pocket for the flashlight, now for the L2T body?

The holster(pocket) I use I bought local the DX ones I can't vouch for. I don't have any Solarforce lights either so I can't vouch for those either but people on here love them. The 504Bs are reverse clickies most budget lights are reverse clicky except for Solarforce.

This is the drop in to get 3 mode low medium and high no strobes or flashies to go with the solarforce.

http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/ultrafire-cree-t6-3mode-memory-led-dropin-module-42v-max-p-5178

Which holster do people on here love?
Is this http://www.dealextreme.com/p/cree-xml-t6-5-mode-6700k-450-lumen-smooth-aluminum-drop-in-module-with-textured-reflector-55026 an option for 5-mode?
Or is the dropin you posted better?

No clue on the holster. That is a fine drop in if you want 5 modes low, medium, high, strobe and sos if you want 3 mode high, medium and low the Manafont one is better. I would order from Manafont if you are going to get the Solarforce light.

For which reason would you order from Manafont?
With a front clickie I would even prefer a 5-mode. Strobe would be nice, but isn’t really suffcient.
What is the difference between textured and smooth reflector?
Anybody that can recommend a good fitting holster for the Solarforce L2T body?

I was asking about bike mounts a few months ago. I recommend this mount http://www.dealextreme.com/p/universal-bicycle-swivel-mount-for-flashlights-and-lasers-1-7-3-0cm-flexible-diameter-21314 . It swivels, and can be released quickly. The flashlight strap is a little bigger than it needs to be, but it is a pretty good mount for $2.79

Regarding the reverse clickie:

How long will the driver remember the previos mode. I think this is temporally only?
So to switch on the light in the first mode (high), you have to push the button until the click.
What happens now when you only press lightly without clicking (next mode?) and what when clicking again (light off?)?

Is there a difference between dropin with smmoth and textured reflector?

Just to clarify that a reverse clickie is not what I'm looking for:

Momentary is not possible when light is off. You have to switch permanently on first, button has to click. Correct so far?
What happens now when pushing the button lightly so that it won't click? And what when clicking?

A textured reflector should be the better choice for me. But the difference is probably not this big, is it?

reverse clicky multimode lights work like this: light is off, pushing it all the way so it clicks switches the light on (mostly on last used mode, high for example)

slightly pushing it for a short time will change the mode to next one

when the light is on for few seconds on one mode and then turned off, it will turn on in that mode (in some drivers the memory is with the light turned off for some seconds, some don't have memory at all, always start on high)

forward clicky multimode is weird, you have to slightly push it to turn it on momentary and depress the clicky to change mode, you can't change mode while on

OP reflectors are better for bike, smoother beam is better

So is momentary light not possible with a reverse clickie?

Momentary function of a forward clickie is that what I'm looking for.
Changing the mode means to switch the light off (click), then again on (click). Hence there is no memory and you have always to click through the complete modes to have the mode you had before switching off?

Can nobody of you guys answer m question regarding the clickie?
That’s quite important to me and the last issue before placing the order…
I would prefer the forward clickie because of the momentary light. How exactly is the operation of the L2T host with the 5-modes XM-L 6T dropin from DX:
When the light is switch on in the 1st mode. What will happen when switching completely off and on again (2x click)? Will the light run in the 2nd mode then?
Does this mean that you always have to click through the complete 5 modes to start again in the mode you have sitched the light off before?
Or is there at least something like a memory function that is deleted after a certain time so that the light runs in the first mode regardless of the mode the light has been switched off?

So when you are in mode 3 for example and you swith off the light for some certain seconds and then switch on again, it will start in mode 1 again, right?
How many seconds does it take until memory gets deleted normally?
