Well my TF X9 arrived today!!! Shipped on 7/18 came 7/21 from HONG KONG!! Fastest shipping Ive ever had come from China!! Here is the link of the ebay seller: Five stars for cyberport888!
The light came very safely packaged, small cardboard box. The X9 was bubble wrapped securely .Along with the light came a nice quality silver lanyard (exactly the same 4sevens gives) and instruction and warranty card. I did notice a very small abrasion on the bezel ( Possibly scratched during packaging) other than that the fit and finish is top notch. Looks alone you would think it cost $100 + but nope only $35.49 AU (Bought off Ebay AU). Threads were dry but that's a easy fix (Applied super lube). Reflector was free of any artifacts or finger prints as well with the glass lens.
After reading the instruction manual , voltage range printed said 4.2V-8.4V so i trusted their word but i got burnt ! I used 2x Solarforce 16340 both were measured at 3.9V (7.8V). Light turned on seemed fine, changed modes fine, until i took a tail cap reading.. 5.1 amps! I knew this was really high. I heard a buzzing sound so i turned off the light and took out the batteries. Next i put in a fresh 18650 flame, light turned on but would not change modes, only stayed on hi.
What do you think happened? I'm still learning so all the help is greatly appreciated.
After looking at manafont they state voltage range is up to 4.2V, I should have looked there first!
once my video uploads i'll post here. Title will be fenix tk41 vs trustfire x9. Just a quick look at both side by side in my backyard, note my yard is not very large.
Yup you have too, he's got a couple of lights of his own...disneys cars flashlight, cheap 9 led with laser, 2d rayovac incan and my old streamlight stylus pro.
I wonder if anyone has a x8 to compare to. That seems a better value imo for not much more w/ a regulated driver (1 or 2 cells), but it was dwarfed yet still by the Skyray stlv2.
Quite a nice torch, the tail switch being a pain the ........ I like the half press to change mode. My driver was very average at about 0.7amp at the tail cap but could still light up trees 200m away.
Deffo only 4.2v. Once I knew the driver was so poor I put in two 16340's....certainly fixed the silly modes. Now it is only one mode....
I have order in replacement driver to get it running at 2.8amps. Looks like it might turn into one of my main hunting torches.
For 35/36 Aussie dollars delivered it seems real good value at the moment, even with the cost of a new driver added in.
I have this light mine one runs 1.5amps on high, Only slightly dimmer than my free Ultrafire Th -T60(2.8Amps) here is the link to the five mode. If it ran at 3Amps it will be really bright and in the long run burn out.
I'm happy with the brightness at 1.5amps. Build quality rivals the premium Brands. Good Thrower as well.
The manual says 4.2 to 8.4v but gen1.3_ tried 2 x16340 batteries and now has only 1 mode.
I have not tried 2 batteries.
Here are my battery readings
Trustfire 2400 Grey(4.07v) AW 2200 Black(4.15v) Trustfire R/B(4.13v)
I suppose that's the problem w/ unregulated lights. Essentially arbitrary max brightness. 1.5A is not really the same as 3A, and unfortunately xp-g territory. I was quite close to buying this light when I elected to go for the STL-v6 instead for mostly that reason. I can't imagine it costs that much to put a reg driver in this w/ optional extension like the x8, it's supposed to be premium X series model.
