[sold out] SKY RAY 6 x Cree XM-L2 T6 3-Mode Cool White Light Flashlight - Black (4 x 18650) US$ 25,76 free shipping @ DX

I just ordered one as well! My first srk. I had a $25 gift card from a dx giveaway, so i barely paid anything at all for it

and used a store credit that I had from over a year ago.

I agree, the pic at first glance looks like XM-L2s, but after zooming in, I think I see the 3 leads to each emitter which sould indicate XM-L.

What is most important though is the description is XM-L2. That is what we should get.

The $ 10 coupon is 1 single use, sorry.
Sorry for the confusion.

Can’t you ask the seller. ?

The coupon has nothing to do with the flashlight, I have long ago.
It was a coupon to spend in the store of Dx.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Im guessing, but I think he meant whether its xml v xml2…

one of us is misunderstanding anyway lol… its not the end of the world…

These look the same as the ones wallbuys had on sale for around 34 bucks back in November . XML x 6 but only 2 mode med -high

Edit to add… was just looking at wallbuys, a long press will produce a disco, so the wallbuys one is 3 mode.

I am so tempted. I want to get one to sell to a coworker, but I have a feeling I would just end up keeping it… Like always. :stuck_out_tongue:

cant believe these kings are going for so cheap nowadays. stilll one of my all time fav. lights.

So far I have only single 18650 lights. This will be my first multi cells light. Does this light require special battery? I mean protected or matched unprotected cells? Thanks.

This is parallel config, it is quite forgiving. You can use between 1-4 batteries. It is recommended to have matched set of course, but it is not as crucial (vs serial config).

Protected cells are recommended as previous SRK drivers allow rundown to around 2.3V which is bad for the battery. And that stop is not even caused by the driver, it stops only because the Vf of the XML already reached its lowest. In other words, the known SRK drivers did not have low voltage protection. No reason to suspect this driver will implement it, as they normally only copy each other.

This one is 6x, that should happen sooner at least?

Ordered one. Thanks for the heads up.

I ordered one too, couldn’t resist this offer! Now I need 4 protected 18650’s for this SRK. What to choose?

1. Sanyo red 2600mAh —> $8,36 /pair
2. Panasonic NCR18650a 3100mAh —> $12,50 /pair

For this goal, I’m leaning towards the cheaper Sanyo’s. Any good reason to go for the Panasonics?

You get 6 sanyos(15.600mah) for the price of 4 panasonics(12400mah)

Hehe, nice insight if mAh’s was the only decision criterium
As I understand, the discharge curve of the Sanyo’s is more flat. I consider this as an advantage for the SRK. Am I right?

You’ll get more high-brightness time with the Sanyo’s, but less overall run time. Personally, I always use fresh batteries when using it to show off anyways, so prefer to simply have a higher capacity on the batteries. I keep it on low mode hours at a time, so the more time between battery swaps, the better. It’s all user preference!

Odd my Sanyo’s have more resistance than my 3400mAh panasonics. Leading to lower brightness with the Sanyo’s and less runtime.

As said above if you are showing it off you are prob using full batteries= no diff. On a long usage you arent needing the extra time of absolute of max output probably, you want more run time. Depending on how its driven, it may be 6 hungry LEDs @1.6A (guess), so I guess ask yourself if it has 65min vs 85min of battery, how long are you going to walk, and if longer than 60 min, are going to want to carry and change out 4 batteries in the dark. Remember its unpredictable though because we dont know what the LEDs are driven at, or if it is less efficient, it could be a more significant difference if they are driven better, could be 40 mins or less with the 2600mAh’s.

I hear you brother.
