New Peak Eiger Ultra high CRI emitter

Just make sure to follow the warrior code of Bushido, which does not allow you to shine a light in your enemy’s eyes, because the eyes behold the rising sun.

Thanks Racer.

This is the link I am looking at:

That’s the one you want

Thanks Racer for the verification.

I want to know why that light is so popular with good natured people.

I also want to know why it attracts some idiots too.

LoL!

I did a review of it here, including a comparison to the original I3 which you might find useful.

The only gripe I have the I3S that I live in a really cold climate, and sometimes when it’s cold, the light can get stuck on medium until it warms up in my hand.

Thanks Racer! That is very helpful!

Lots of rude ignorant posts in the thread, this might be a budget forum, but there are lights that as with most products are superior in there construction and function, one member decides to venture outside cheap Chines clones and buy something of quality and he is pounced on for making an excellent choice, are you all sheep? Friendly forum what a joke. Some members here should be ashamed of their troll like behaviour, not to say there aren’t plenty of intelligent members here who don’t find it necessary to follow the trolls.

I merely mentioned the under water capabilities, because peak heads are themselves a sealed unit and a small leak passed an O ring isn’t compromise the operation of your light, just another barrier against water ingress.

Instead of treating satow as a fool who is easily parted from his hard earned, you should be congratulating him on his excellent taste in flashlights.

I think it is fine to joke around and have favorite lights, but being disrespectful is another issue.

Yes, the Peak Eiger Ultra is a fine light. It’s very well made, a little costly, but has features such as QTC and the option to add a plunger style tailcap switch. No one else has that.

Being quiet and not attracting attention with a flashing light as you twist through modes, or making a clicking sound as you click through the modes is very important to avoid if you do security and patrol work.

That is why some military and security personnel love this light.

Most people don’t know what QTC is. It is a material when compressed, allows more electricity to pass through. When it expands, less electricity passes through.

So on a QTC light, as you twist the head tighter, the light gradually gets brighter.

When you loosen the head the light gets dimmer and eventually goes off.

  1. The beauty of the Peak Eiger lights is that is it a QTC light that has customizable features.
  2. You don’t have to twist the head off and on to switch modes to get the light to the right brightness.
  3. You have the option of adding a tailcap switch.
  4. As you gradually press in the tailcap switch the brighter it gets.
  5. When you back the pressure off the tailcap switch it dims.
  6. No other QTC light or any other light, has an optional tailcap switch that works like this one - that I am aware of.
  7. It is completely silent so when you are on patrol, you don’t draw attention.
  8. You don’t have to cycle through modes, which causes flashing which also draws attention.
  9. It is built very, very well and is extremely lightweight.

And these are some of the reasons why people like the Peak Eiger series of lights.

I don’t think the Olight i3s has those features. It doesn’t need to.

It is for the everyday man to carry around.

I think comparing the Olight i3s with a Preon P1 or a Streamlight Microstream C4 is a more appropriate comparison.

Some people think that twisting the head on and off to get to modes is gimmicky.

pseudo-intellect may be preferably to the lack of any sort of intellect shown by yourself, you seem intent on justifying your pointless troll posts, people here don’t need to justify their purchases to you, haven’t checked the calender is it school holidays again? Nor should you feel compelled to show of your boundless knowledge.

Or isn’t free choice an option here any longer?

As a great American once said. “It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than open it and remove all doubt”

Which seems very applicable to B25364

I got EXCITED about that offer until I saw it was a ‘bid.’ Shame on you.

Here are some Buy It Now Olight i3's:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_sop=15&_nkw=Olight+i3&rt=nc&LH_BIN=1

Don’t leave us in the dark now, no1 here has ever seen how you can swap batteries underwater, i think we would all like to, and when i get the confirmation that is possible(video prefered) then i’m sure buying a whole lot of these lights!!!

I forgot the golden rule,

Do your own research if your so keen to see the evidence.

which I know you aren’t

There’s nothing wrong with bidding. I think I picked up one of my Preon P1’s a while back for under $20 too. No one bid after my bid.

I found where you can buy the QTC material. $3.50 for 3 pieces of 4mm square. $3.75 shipping US. Says it can handle 10 amps.

my first bidding experience:

I bid on a Macintosh desktop computer. It was like $400, used. I really wanted this! It got down to like 2 hours and I got excited, then down to 1 hour. And I’m thinking ‘am I really going to get this nice computer for $400?’ 1/2 hour left. 20 min. 10 min. 5 min. I was celebrating! 4 min. 3 min. It’s mine! I think it was at like 40 seconds somebody snatched it right out of my hand! Man, I was steaming! I called E-Bay and complained! Eventually I e-mailed the seller and related my sad story. I asked if he could sell me another one for $400, and HE DID! Doesn’t hurt to ask. He had a bunch of them off a lease, so he said. I got a really nice one, still going strong at 15 months now.

B25364=cat eyes?

I own both olight i3s and new preon 1. I am running them with efest 10440, both lights are great but personally i like preon 1
a. for its beam profile ( smooth and a bit tight than i3s)
b. tint (cooler than olight)
c. body finish ( matte black)

  • these are all personal preferences and choice

And as for the qtc material to me its a breakthrough it eliminates the need of a complicated infinitely variable drive it saves space (when direct driving the light with a 3.6volt li-ion battery)

It’s interesting how the QTC material is used in flashlight designs. On the Veleno Designs D2 it is an exposed cube that the battery cap sits on it directly. On the Peak Eiger, it is built into the head, so that the QTC material is protected and not exposed. The build quality is pretty good on the Peak Eiger, most of the cost is due to it being hand made vs. automated. The Prometheus lights are all hand manufactured too. Beautiful but way out of my price range.

I think when I get my Olight i3s and compare it to the Preon P1, I have a feeling that I will have the same conclusion. The Preon is in the same price range and after reading the reviews on the Olight i3s, I think the Preon P1 is the better light for me. That only a prediction until I get the Olight. Thanks Rezwan.
