Anybody tested Trustfire X9, beamshots?

Is it safe to say X9 throws better than UF 980L? Any other XML based light that throws further that's single 18650 and in same price range?

Yes it throws better that the 980l. The x9 compares very close to my tk41. the tk41 is still a little bit brighter.

once my video uploads i'll post here. Title will be fenix tk41 vs trustfire x9. Just a quick look at both side by side in my backyard, note my yard is not very large.

Video not the best , hope you guys like ! Thanks to my 5 yr old son for a second hand holding the tk41.

Starting him young I see! TK41 has nicer tint imo.

Yup you have too, he's got a couple of lights of his own...disneys cars flashlight, cheap 9 led with laser, 2d rayovac incan and my old streamlight stylus pro.

I bought it from the same seller for only $33.48 by bidding.

I wonder if anyone has a x8 to compare to. That seems a better value imo for not much more w/ a regulated driver (1 or 2 cells), but it was dwarfed yet still by the Skyray stlv2.

On Ebay some seller say it's the input voltage is from 4.2v to 8.4v and others state only 4.2v.?

When i receive my one, I'm only going to use 18650 battery.

I think it should be pretty obvious to someone who's bought a few of these things that the specs are often random. Makes it exciting.

However, we can use some data like current draw to infer what's going on.

gen1.3_ It could be a forward clicky. You cannot change mode when it's on.

Switch it off and then you have to half click the tailcap to the required mode and then full-click.

Quite a nice torch, the tail switch being a pain the ........ I like the half press to change mode. My driver was very average at about 0.7amp at the tail cap but could still light up trees 200m away.

Deffo only 4.2v. Once I knew the driver was so poor I put in two 16340's....certainly fixed the silly modes. Now it is only one mode.... Cool

I have order in replacement driver to get it running at 2.8amps. Looks like it might turn into one of my main hunting torches.

For 35/36 Aussie dollars delivered it seems real good value at the moment, even with the cost of a new driver added in.

II'z

Yep....not sure why anybody would wanna complain about strobe and SOS. Just put in 2 cells, that'd fix any light.... Cool LOL!

I have this light mine one runs 1.5amps on high, Only slightly dimmer than my free Ultrafire Th -T60(2.8Amps) here is the link to the five mode. If it ran at 3Amps it will be really bright and in the long run burn out.

I'm happy with the brightness at 1.5amps. Build quality rivals the premium Brands. Good Thrower as well.

The manual says 4.2 to 8.4v but gen1.3_ tried 2 x16340 batteries and now has only 1 mode.

I have not tried 2 batteries.

Here are my battery readings

Trustfire 2400 Grey(4.07v) AW 2200 Black(4.15v) Trustfire R/B(4.13v)

H - 1.2Amps H - 1.69Amps H - 1.73Amps

M - 0.72Amps M - 0.85Amps M - 0.87Amps

L - 0.15Amps L - 0.17Amps L - 0.17Amps

I suppose that's the problem w/ unregulated lights. Essentially arbitrary max brightness. 1.5A is not really the same as 3A, and unfortunately xp-g territory. I was quite close to buying this light when I elected to go for the STL-v6 instead for mostly that reason. I can't imagine it costs that much to put a reg driver in this w/ optional extension like the x8, it's supposed to be premium X series model.

My TrustFire X9 just arrived, can't wait for darkness.:)

Can't wait for your report............

X9 owners... how do think this light is built for modding? If I was interested in replacing the driver would it be worth the effort?

Hi,

Do you have a beamshot comparison between X9 and tk41, wanted to see a picture of the two. I wanted to get a TK41 but if I could get a 1x18650 XM-L thrower that is in the caliber of tk41 but cheaper then I would go that route.

thanks

You might find this useful, Ian.

Thanks

Does anyone know if the ebay Trustfire X9 is as bright as the KD/Manafont version in 1x18650?

Specs states that the ebay version accepts 2xCR123A and the KD up to 4.2v only.

Maybe the reason one member have problem with his ebay version is he powered the light by 2x 16340 which is above 7.2v as compared to 2 CR123A which is only 6v(3-6v driver).

I'm leaning toward to getting an ebay version as I already have batteries and charger.
