Malaysia Air mystery plane - carrying lithium battery cargo

Well, they are now reporting that the Malaysia Air plane that disappeared was carrying a cargo of lithium ion batteries…

well… blame it on Wallbuys, they shipping most lithium batteries using malaysian post :Sp

Oh please. :expressionless:

Lithium ions are now so infused with evil that they can achieve sentience, subdue pilots, disable transponder, alter a boeing triple-7’s course then presumably initiate their own thermal runaway. Self-immolation and destruction of Malaysia Air 370 being their final act of malice against all humans. The fact that it would cost us a small fortune to locate the plane & eventually discover what they did, merely a small bonus.

Seriously though, please, please little lithium ions, have nothing to do with this in the end. :ghost:

They think a flashaholic hijacked the plane for the cells?

If "they" are the Malaysian officials or Malaysian airlines, the other one will make a contradictory statement soon. If they were any more inept, MH370 would have been sitting at one of their airports all this time.

And you’re right.

Cant be terrorists, we fixed that problem.
There will be plenty of speculation about what happened, until we know, we dont know. With the exception of families, people demanding miracle answers need to be slapped. The media mostly. Parasites love a “good” tragedy.

There is a listing ‘selling’ a Malaysia Airlines jet on Craigslist (I assume same model) that went up just after MH370 vanished. Yeah it was too soon. But I loled anyway.

If you know anyone on the flight, or if you have thin skin, dont click the link. Its not gory, just tasteless.

How many redundant backups are there for the transponders and pretty much all the other systems in those aircraft

When the transponder was turned off it flew 7 more hours, if there was a fire so big as to sever all 5 redundant backups…would the plane fly for 7 more hours?

I have no intention to piss anyone off but this so called “one of the safest airplane in service” had some really nasty problems in the past…

Considering their fiasco with dreamliner I would not be surprised if pure technical problem is cause for this tragedy…

If you read it, most of them were a problem that resulted in engine loss due to lack of fuel…the FAA issued the appropriate FAR’s and the problem fixed…if it was a problem of the entire electrical systems going bye bye and making the aircraft turn EVERYTHING off then sure…we could speculate or even take a stab at that…but the earlier problems were pretty much in now way related to a plane going dark and flying off in practically the opposite direction of the pre-programmed (that was changed AFTER the last official broadcast from the flight crew by the way) flight path…

And no pissing off or hurt feelings either…just those problems were addressed and in around what 1/2 decade with hundreds of flights no reported issues like that reported or addressed?

A few of those Air Crash Investigation episodes show some odd stuff. One close to the fear of fire. But it crashed pretty much within minutes (maybe 30) IIRC. Fire was in the ceiling above the cockpit caused by bare wires and silver insulation. Pilots were stuffed before the passengers even knew.

Another was a Greek airline that flew without anyone alive for hours. Long enough that air force jets were able to scramble and fly alongside and visually see no pilots or activity in the cabin, yet no fire or other apparent cause. That would have been eery. The theory is everyone died of asphyxiation, I cant remember why but I think it was loss of pressure and air. One steward is supposed to have been able to use up a few recycling oxygen masks before he succumbed too.

Theres some odd stories regarding plane crashes. Sometimes the redundancies dont work, other times they work remarkably well thus keeping a dead plane in the air until it runs out of fuel.

Anything is possible really.

fair enough, but why the altering/changing of the autopilot, and other things

I sure hope they find the aircraft intact…planes like that even in really bad crashes still leave big ole chunks…and chunks that float for a very very very long time
Crazy thing is…when a plane goes silent, I thought it was SOP for whatever nation it is near to go figure out why…ESPECIALLY after 9/11

Er no, that is indeed a remarkably good safety record. Hint: human error isn’t a technical problem with the airliner, and half the ‘incidents’ you list are purely human error or deliberate human malice (the hijackings). One incident with three fatalities that could be blamed on the aircraft and its systems, in the entire operating history of the airliner, over all its flights and miles flown? For a plane that’s been in service almost 20 years, with over a thousand of them operating? Yes that is stunningly good.

This is a very interesting article, sounds plausible. Read

I have 4 18650's from FT thats been missing since February 12 shipped via Malaysian Post. They left for the US and never arrived.

Well they are. But there are sovereignty issues too.

Austrlaia is looking a couple of thousand KMs off Perth. The search area is in the millions of square miles, its not exacltly easy to locate, real needle in a haystack stuff. Last I heard there were signs they had found something. But I havent been paying attention since so maybe it was nothing. Even the US has planes out there. If it is there the water is apparently many KMS deep, freezing cold, and some of the most remote ocean on earth, and a calm sea there is still rough, not that its calm for long. Recovery might not be simple.

I have no input on the changes to systems though, except read the link below.

I read that a couple of days ago (might have been yesterday), sounds very plausible.

WHAAAT, NOOOOO, but I have few cells from wallbuys shipped via MY :expressionless:
P.S. If google can’t find missing plane, no one can

I was aiming at this particular incident:

The type’s second hull-loss occurred on July 29, 2011, when an EgyptAir 777-200ER registered as SU-GBP suffered a cockpit fire while parked at the gate at Cairo International Airport.[222] The plane was successfully evacuated with no injuries,[222] and airport fire teams extinguished the fire.[223] The aircraft sustained structural, heat and smoke damage. This aircraft was written off.[222][223] Investigators focused on a possible electrical fault with a supply hose in the cockpit crew oxygen system.[222]

Call it harsh, but after seeing what boeing is “capable off” regarding battery fiasco on dreamliner I would recommend them to start considering lawn mower production as their core business or make some serious changes in engineering department asap.

Just take a look at the picture on page 10. Even slightly retarded ape could see that this is seriously wrong…

Anyone can call mistakes silly, obvious, etc. once things have already gone wrong.

The 777 is and has been one of the most reliable aircraft in the world for over a decade.
Being able to fly three hours with just one engine isn't a small feat.

When engineers design things (I don't know about all engineers, only myself), the purpose is not to make something infallible. There has to be a compromise somewhere. Weight, cost, features, etc. A plane is made of literally millions of parts. Iirc, the A380 is around 6 million parts. You'd need a PhD in materials and specialised alloys to understand why a single turbine blade is manufactured precisely so.

If you naysayers think Boeing is doing a bad job, why not start your own aircraft design company? It can't be that hard right? After all, the problems the aircraft encounter are simple, obvious and crude. Anyone with half a brain could avoid them. Better yet, be an aircraft consultant and tell Boeing what's going to go wrong next. Earn millions.

A plane that is designed never to fail at all will never get off the ground.
