Multi Tool Mania ( Leatherman MUT, ST 300, Charge TTI , Wave, Skeletool, Wingman, & Kick )

You got that OHT used? I hope it didn’t come from the factory like that

It looks like the pliers on the OHT come out similar to the Gerber?

This month, flashlight binge, next month, back to multi-tools.

I used metal polish to get the OHT to that color…. It wasnt silver enough, I love it now. The Gerbers & OHT use similiar opening mechanisms

Leatherman now offers three different colors of the OHT. Coyote brown, black, & Silver…

Does a decent Chinese alternative to Leatherman Squirt PS4 exist? Main thing that attracts me to PS4 is size and weight - small/light enough for keychain. But it costs more than I would like to spend for such “toy” atm.

Not sure what tools the PS4 has but I’m seriously tempted by the Jeep line of multitools.
This one in particular, seems like it would fit my EDC bag nicely.

Those JEEP tools look nice but all of them are relatively large/heavy. When PS4 is:

  • BLADE LENGTH: 1.6 in | 4.06 cm
  • CLOSED LENGTH: 2.25 in | 5.72 cm
  • WEIGHT: 2 oz | 56.4 g

And although I carry what’s ironically called by some as “man-bag” (work phone, wallet, 3 sets of keys etc.). It’s not always with me. Whereas I do have my main key set 95% of time with me. Therefore something really small would be nice. But I wasn’t able to find anything as small and light as PS4 but of decent quality. Therefore I’ll probably just stick with Sanrenmu ZB-681 on my keychain.

Just get the Leatherman PS4. You’ll be continually be kicking yourself if you settle for anything else.

That’s very true, if you want any particular model then go for it, budget allowing.
I didn’t realize that those Jeep tools were as heavy, I don’t mind heavy so much, it can be a reminder that something is missing but it does add up.

I’ve just ordered a SanRenMu ZB-681, 35g - my present EDC knife is an Omuda 3922 weighing in at 99g.
As I need a slip-joint EDC I’m going to try converting the ZB-681 to slip-joint as practice for a couple of other back locks.

This is so true and I usually try to do so. But I’m in Europe and a PS4 costs about $46 locally. I could order it from the States trying to save a bit. But customs would probably ask me to pay 21% VAT and ~$12 processing fee. So in the end it would probably cost even more than locally  The budget is tight atm and let’s be honest it’s more of a “grown-up toy” than a necessity. At least in my case. So I’ll stick with something cheaper (681) for now.

True, I went through a time of buying everything that appealed to me a year ago. Looking at my credit card… I probably shouldn’t have done that.

Still, I have a PS4 and mini-champ on my keyring and usually have a Charge TTi on my belt. Preferred knives, a Cold Steel Tuff Lite and Spartan.

I dont want to hijack this thread , but it seems the right place to post it…….

I have a SAK classic on my keyring and find it a bit small for me so want to upgrade, I thought I had narrowed it down to either a Leatherman Micra or PS4, but whilst searching I found myself liking the Leatherman Style PS (no blade) and the new Alox Minichamp

So opinions please

FWIW I carry a blast at work but want a keyring carry for “just in case” situations.

The Style PS is the logical choice as I enter a Crown Court almost daily , I dont get scanned or searched as the security know me, (I always leave my knife outside) but it makes sense to have a bladeless multitool.

Cheers in advance

I’ve seen those Alox Minichamps.

Ooh, they’re nice.

OH Yes, but a bit pricey at the moment

I only own a Leatherman Kick. Now I’m looking for an affordable Leatherman Sideclip (discontinued).

Oh, wow, this thread has been stale for a while :D!

Top left: Victorinox Camper, been carrying it more often recently, its light, takes up little space, only thing is that it accumulates fiber/paper debree in my pockets pretty successfully :D! Oh and I wonder if Vic’ made more, say, softer scales which dont chip when dropped on hard surfaces?

Top right: IDL Tools T10, its been in my around-the-town backpack for a while, seen very little use, but when I needed pliers and didnt have my Wingman on me, I was happy that I did have this little fella, the tools are wobbly, but they are locking and cost me very little(thanks to Soytnly, and I still havent got around to making review for this tool :D! )! Its paired with Victorinox travel compact nail clippers, not sure if they are genuine since I bought them from Chinese vendor?

Bottom dominated by: Wingman has been my main EDC tool since I got it, its bigger and heavier than the two mentioned above, but I love what I get for the price of it, all tools but, I believe the ruler, have been used on it. Theres some rust on it due to me washing it in soap water few times and NOT drying it properly, other than that and slight play in plier jaws which doesnt bother me its been great tool to have!

One observation - even though I dont recall giving it to someone to operate anything else but a knife, scissors and pliers, I cant recall any situation where I could have bent the head of package opener, it is slightly bent towards the frame-side of the multi tool, any one else noticed such occurence or is it normal and it was like that from the beginning?

I have a victronix camper also. I have had it 25 years or so. Mine has a little picture of a tent on the front scale and it says camper beside it. I will have to try and find it one of these days

Skeletool pr0n I shot quite some years ago.
