NEW !! See last post on Driver Issue: Response from T-Mart HD2010..The Good & The Bad.

Goodness… wth…

Best bet is it's a XM-L2 T6. This is clearly an XM-L2 and is labeled on the star XML U2. The manufacturers are the dummies - used a pre-labeled generic star to mount whatever they want on it. Still, the XM-L2 is still much better than what we signed up for -- an XML T6.

What I think is happening is the XM-L2 T6's have come down in price, or they just ran out of XML T6's and switched over to what they had on-hand. The driver - well, like others said, probably ran out of the East-092 labeled drivers. I've gotten plenty of other DD drivers though, not labeled East-092 and behave and perform the same as East-092's.

I have some other $7 crappy C8, their drivers are not East-092 but they are direct drive on high mode. Even if it is not labelled as “East-092” as long as it is true direct drive on high then it’s all the same.

I don't believe it is direct drive. Barely pulls 3 amps on KingKong unprotected. I know the xml u2 is more efficient and would pull less. However, the crappy driver with the horrendous next mode memory crap I can't stand. If you want to start on high, you have to turn it off in SOS mode. What an idiot driver.. Just peeved that I have to purchase another driver to get where I want to go when the east092 would have been all I needed.

And oh, I sent them a message complaining about it, so they send me a response restating that it had been shipped ,, gave me the tracking number,,,yadda yadda....really? Are these people that stupid or just faking it not wanting to deal with it. Done.

They don't want to hear, or just simply don't understand the English language. My HD2010 came in the box, and the box in the no-frills bag. The box was completely crushed, the light half hanging out of it, the lanyard ripped, and there was this white dust crap over everything inside the bag -- weird. So the packaging had no protection for the goods whatsoever, no bubble wrap, nothing...

I received an inquiry from Louis Huang at Tmart this morning.

I explained the situation and the crappy driver issue

Sent pic of what driver should have been and pic of inferior driver.

Waiting for response.

Mine came exactly as yours. Minus the white dust...LOL

No damage to item though.

I guess I’m one of the lucky one got one in a regular white box not crushed and with East-092 driver… but then again maybe because it’s Tangsfire… same driver as in their C8
I have another one coming and hopefully it comes with XM-L2 :stuck_out_tongue:

The T-Mart Tangsfire I received earlier had the correct driver.

The T-Mart unmarked "No-Name" no such luck. Crap Driver.

I included a link to this thread for Mr Louis Huang.

I'm hoping to get only the driver that made the HD2010 desirable & a BLF favorite, that's all.

Dunno. Will see I guess.

With all that being said I’m still happy with the purchase. Got an xml2 and a good host from it. And it was bought with the intention of modding anyway. Just wasn’t so lucky with the driver but its not a big deal to swap it out.

have you tried the pencil trick on the capacitor, to see if you can remove the next mode memory?

I forgot all about the pencil trick. I just tried it on my C8 and it worked great. No more mode memory. I can still cycle through the modes, but is I turn it off for more than a split second, it comes back on in high. Perfect!

Pencil trick?

For those of you who got the wrong driver or got the right driver, but it is faulty, or only does low amps, please PM me.

In your PM to me, include the following:

  1. Order number
  2. Date you ordered
  3. Date you received it
  4. Exactly what the problem is (Example:) " My light will only put out 1 amp on high, with the East092 driver." OR "My driver was not an East092 driver, it was an XXXX driver (include the numbers on the driver if you can)"

According to my contact, a replacement light or money back can be done.

For those of you that have some other issue, then PM me and I will see what I can do.

I don't have another driver. Will have to PURCHASE ONE. That's my whole point.

I hope I get the "bad light" with the XM-L2. More usable parts IMO.

Either way, not a big deal. Im used to playing the Chinese lottery every time I buy a Chinese "fire" light or similar..

Thanks for your support. I hope you get the "bad driver" too.

I also got the “bad light”, non-DD low A driver with noise/pwm on high, without XML2, and no plastic ring around the LED (pre-smashed box of course, but so what)…I think any/all variations were possible.

Thanks OL for the follow up. But in all honesty, does this mean someone at TMart will cover this, or are you just going to hide the fact you will make good on peoples woes? As thats the Chinese lottery, we all know it, or should. Its not your responsibility if we all roll the dice and some of come up craps?

I have no idea what driver I got, as yet I cant get it out. I dont have a pair of circlip pliers small enough. Not even will the edge of a pair of little pliers from my mini set hold the notch.

Mine (no name) arrived in the same physical condition except the dust and I got a sleeve of bubble wrap, long enough to cover the length of the light, but not the lens lol. And yes, the tail cap was at the closed bottom of the bubble wrap sleeve, not the lens. Crushed white box, in a thin plastic bag, but as someone else stated, no damage that Ive noticed yet.

But you know, less than $30, delivered. I wasnt expecting foam padding. And I planned this as my first mod, with XML2, so was going to change everything but the host, switch (OL says they can handle it so Ill smoke test it) and reflector. Even the lens is in for an upgrade if I can get an AR one.

Try using scissors!
