2 second exposure. 40 m aprox will do some more when it stops raining.

Your first pic shows a C8 R5. Is it this XP-G on DX? If not, can you please post the link? I ask because I noticed you purchased other C8's in XR-E Q5.
If its the XP-G, how do you like the unusual reflector? It seems like a strange design and I couldnt find any feedback as to its usefulness. Another thread on DX says they are all shipped with SMO reflectors now. Is yours SMO?
Speaking of C8's, have you seen what appears to be a polished version here? It sure looks awesome if it is.
Why is the C8 brighter than the 502B in your pics? Is it because of the reflector or is it the camera?
It isn't the camera, both are the same exposure so it must be the driver or reflector, or both.
The C8 was a Q5. Brought a R5 from Kd on a 20mm star (mistake had to cut it down to fit) it came with a smooth reflector but I put an OP in it for a nicer beam.The 502b is the 5 mode from KD
The reason the C8 is brighter. It is pulling 1.4a and the 502b is pulling 1.0a. Glad you like the shots more to come when it stops raining every time I go outside 
Camera is a Kodak Z915 still getting the hang of it, but so far pretty happy with it.
Ps C8's are only $16 or so at Kd
Now it all makes sense. I was wondering how that odd compound angle xp-g reflector at dx could have produced such a nice beam. When you switched reflectors to OP, did you find the SMO to produce artifacts with the xp-g?
The smooth reflectors are great throwers, will post a pic soon with a C8 Q5 as it came from KD. The hotspot is bigger with the OP the smooth very ringy. beam shot here http://budgetlightforum.cz.cc/node/314
