Medford Praetorian Clone....

Just got online confirmation that mine was accepted through the USPS sort facility….

Getting close……and mo’ anxious.

Seems this is on track to arrive MUCH sooner than most of my china gear.

Damn, ordered two in a second. This is a good looking knife.

Well she arrived today…and this baby is everything I hoped it would be and more.

You just cant prepare yourself for how heavy duty this thing is. It is certainly confidence inspiring and screams quality.

Interested in hearing everyone elses feedback,….but this one is a grand slam in my book.

Will pass it through the Spyderco Sharpmaker to get it hair popping sharp.

I’m quite impressed with mine too. The quality and the F&F is amazing.
It dwarfs the EL-01:

Can’t wait to get mine…

That is a hefty chunk of steel. Interesting to see how it takes and keeps an edge. At $20, it looks to be a steal.

I’m still waiting on delivery, if this goes well I might try the Strider clone next.

Whew…just got the faux Praetorian beauty off the Spyderco Sharpmaker….

and yep,…she can get hair poppin sharp. Time will tell how well it holds an edge.

Also read today that because of the huge jimping…that it is waveable out of the pocket.

Will have to test that tomorrow and see how cleanly it comes out…and how much it tears into the jeans

Oh, and some of the Striders are nice too…especially the Kevin John ones.

Here is a video of one that TuffThumbz did for me with some custom scales…about 8.5 minutes in…probably my favorite carry.

My Praetorian just arrived - it was opened up and passed by Australian Customs and Border Protection.

It is impressive, a big solid chuck of steel, picture do not do it justice to the weight and feel of it.
Smooth opening and solid locking very happy with it and will be getting a couple more

Very cool Strider clone KaiserSosa, that Anso pattern is just right for the blue/black G10, and by a master of the scales, Toads and Tanics no less. I’ve watched Tuffthumbz’s videos for a long time now and watched most of them, he’s come a long way from when he started. Very like Gavko a lot of talent and hard work but they are excellent craftsmen.

Cool mod! Is that a titanium version or the cheaper one with steel frame?

I’d like to try making a few custom G10 scales for my folders but I can’t find a good price for G10 or carbon fibre sheets with international shipping anywhere.

Fantastic clone !
Must be mine asap !

I suppose by now you’ve found out that G10, Kirinite, Carbon fibre and Micarta are expensive. I got a real shock when I started ordering supplies. I can get brilliant quality Australian wood knife scales delivered for less than half the price of G10.
JBSupplies I have tried and GPS Agencies. The other two look good but I haven’t ordered from them yet.

USA Knifemaker is a good source of parts like phosphor bronze washers but they cane you on the postage as do all U.S.A. suppliers.
Knife Kits 1 skull lanyard bead $2.95 Shipping via USPS $16.40, about average.

If you want wood for scales, I’ve just ordered from ebay 5 x £0.99 (inc. post and pack) samples of hardwood laminate flooring, if they turn out to be good then they are a good source of cheap wood scales, already stabilized.
Emperor Solid Tigerwood Bamboo flooring Lots of other samples as well.

Good luck with your search for cheaper G10 etc. it’s damned expensive stuff in the U.K. one of the reasons I’m going mostly for wood. Being a retired joiner helps as well.

Hi Steve,

Thanks a lot for the links!
Unfortunately G10 is heavily overpriced which is ridiculous considering its origin in the electrical industry…

I’ll consider the use of hardwood too because it’s easier to work with without the hazards of the nasty G10 dust.

I am testing out the wave functions…

So far it works pretty well….especially when clipped on the right side pocket.

I can get it to come out…about 60% with a good press and little effort.

……and then use a bit of wrist action to open it the rest of the way.

Maybe with practice I could it to open 100%

Cool mod! Is that a titanium version or the cheaper one with steel frame?

Isti…here is a video Tuffthumbz made with his observations when he first got my faux strider…and to give you a feel for what it looked like before the pimpage…He concluded that the frame lock side was a lower grade titanium.

Of course you can imagine my horror at the time watching him take a flame torch to my knife on live TV !!! lol

This was 2 and half years ago when I got it…I think it was the second generation of basic Kevin John or maybe MG china-striders.

Since then,…as you know,…there have been many more fit and finish options introduced from the factory.

I have a couple of the titanium double gunner grips that I also like A LOT….

The cloning technology improved a lot the previous 6-9 months that’s sure. I’m amazed by the abundance of the titanium & bearing pivot system combos even in the sub $100 category.

What means “waveable” ?

Able to wave? :stuck_out_tongue:

If someone Else is wondering
