Amanda at MaxToch is ready to offer us another Group Buy…but I want to get everyone’s opinion on which model. The contenders are the much improved SN6×-2X and the brand new Mission M12. Here is some info on each:

MaxToch 2X: This torch has some significant improvements over the last Group Buy we offered. It now has a copper LED base, AR coated lens, XM-L2 U2 LED and an innovative rotating/selectable strobe. MaxToch says improvements net about a 30% increase in light output with a claimed 700 meters of throw (770 yds). Other Specs: 1300 Lumens, 3 mode + one twist strobe, SMO reflector, IPX7 waterproof, 1.5 hrs. run-time on high. Group Buy price is $69.50 which includes a free holster. Pics:

(New Twist Strobe Function^)

MaxToch Mission M12: This is a new torch for MaxToch. It also utilizes a copper LED base, AR lens and XM-L2 U2. The nice feature on this light is battery versatility. It can use either a 26650 or 26700. The 26700 is slightly larger, and has a 5000 mAh capacity (25% higher that a normal 4000 mAh 26650). It also has a claimed 600 meters of throw (660 yds). Other specs: 1200 Lumens, IPX7 waterproof and 2 hrs. run-time on high. Group Buy price is $62.50 and also includes a free holster. $75.50 w/26700 battery (no charger). Pics:

MaxToch lights have consistently received excellent reviews, and I have not heard of any that were not satisfied with the last two MaxToch Group Buys I orchestrated. Most importantly, they listen to BLFers. The improvements listed above for the SN6×-2X are a direct result of feedback they received from key members here at BLF. These improvements carried over to the Mission M12. MaxToch is the real deal.

Please indicate your interest by selecting:
1) WINNER-SN6×-2X or Mission M12
2) Quantity

I will look at this the next few days to determine which light will be offered on the Group Buy.

Cheers,
krono

The M12 sounds really nice, but I am not promising to buy one yet. And +1 on the neutral white option.

The M12 is not on their website or even one hit on Google yet. Would love to find out more - dimensions would be helpful. I'd be interested in the M12 - I'm thinking FET driver here ... Smile I want to make that "hot" labeling legit!

Update:

Qty 1 of M12, maybe one more, definitely 1 though

Also very curious bout the 26700 5000 mAh cell - needs some specs on it. I got a Moli 26700 - its ok, but I think they are only 2900 mAh, and there are better 26650 low resistance cells around.

Thanks Krono! Love my 2X!!

I agree with Krono – dam this company is making some good gear now.

Hi Tom – the company adopted all the recommended upgrades and have put them across the board in a whole range of lights. Hadn’t even heard of the M12 but it looks a beauty – kind of like an upgrade on the excellent HD2010 of recent years.

I have their new M24 lightweight Sniper hunting light and its a wee beauty – just 270gms, 25mm tube, build quality even better than the very good 2Xs of last year, and a great wee performer at 83k stock and 173 dedomed. If people liked the Skyray STL-V2/FF STL-V6, this new M24 is like a super development on them.

I will have a 2X sample here for testing next week – will do quick stock and dedomed test report asap. Look forward to hearing more on the M12 development. I think amanda said recently they will have their redesigned site up shortly.

Will the group buy SN6X-2X ship to Australia as they will not sell this light to Australia from there website? It must be bought from the local reseller.

Beam distance figures quoted for the upgraded 2X at 700m, and the M12 at 616m would suggest stock output figures of 123kcd and 95kcd respectively.

With straight dedoming alone you’re looking at about 260k for the 2X, and 200+k for the M12. That’s around 1020m and 900m ANSI – serious throw.

Very interesting….could be very powerful lights once resistor and other mods done.

Yes! Exactly! That's what I like bout it. HD2010 all tweaked up stock - best LED on copper star, AR lens - that's like $10 in parts alone. Not as much to mod. The MaxToch finish, threading, over quality I've been very impressed with. So, this is a HD2010 as it should be -- not the total disaster dealing with TMART with pot luck driver, lottery on how many dings it comes with stock - and now they even changed the pill threading so it breaks the copper pill compatibility. Unfortunately the driver modes is the std 5 mode mess, but probably has a good mode memory and can be resistor modded -- but for me, the driver had got to go...

The 26700 5000 mAh battery is intriguing - need details.

I believe its just this light that they wont ship SN6X-2X. I have had emails with the guy here and it comes with batteries and a charger which I don't want but makes the light a lot more expensive.

I was in the first gb of the SN6×-2X and this brand is top-notch quality. Just as good, if not better, than the other main players. I even had it Vinh (ed).

What kcd did Vinh get out of the modded 2X?

I think a few guys had them running round 330-360k. Beinteresting to see what the new one would pull with its upgrades – could crack 400.

I just let him do his thing. What I know is that he de-domed it, and now it runs on one cell with a dummy cell together. Although I have not tested it, he says it draws 5.8A. We both don’t have a lux meter, so I don’t know.

Why not SN6×-2X use 2×26650s battery tube?

2×18650s maybe I’m in.
2×26650s I will order for sure.

#‘s I got on the modified 2X, resistor modded driver so still uses two cells:

fresh Pana PF’s, 2.22A (4.45A effective at tail), lumens: 1,615 @start, 1,540 @30 secs, throw: 358 kcd, measured at 5 m

So the M12's head dimension does appear to match an HD 2010 - if reflector inside diameter is about the same, than it should be close to a HD2010 in throw.

I’m kind of interested for Maxtoch SN6×-2X Um.. wait the minute.. group buy for Maxtoch SN6×-2X is more expensive than the one on the website?
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/MAXTOCH-SN6×-2S-usd59-50-free-s...CREE-XM-L2/314381_955206794.html

or is there any different between Maxtoch SN6×-2S and Maxtoch SN6×-2X? ( beside the 2S is cheaper by $4 than the group buy price ) :~

2S was designed for outdoors/hunting – now more focussed on law enforcement etc I think since the lightweight M24 hunting light has come out. 2S really nice light.

The 2S with upgrades likely to be about 83k lux standard with 63mm head. Upgraded 2X likely to be more like 120K lux stock with 68mm head.

I would be interested in the M24, i got 2x in the last group buy. I only build gun mounted hunting lights so the M12 does me no good.

They are on holiday now…will ask if tint options are available this go around.
