I’ve actually lost some interest in lights recently (only relatively of course!), but this is one is by far the most exciting I have seen for a long while. It isn’t just the incredible power to size ratio at max output, but the overall build quality and efficiency at the more practical levels whilst also giving very tightly binned neutral white light. Check out the brown lines on this runtime graph (taken from selfbuilts review of the revised prototype) for an illustration:

Bear in mind that this graph is based on only 2200mah cell as well.

NB: A measurement error in the review of the Prototype 2 version of this light led to some incredible but inaccurate results (>300 lm/w). I should’ve done the maths earlier and worked out they were impossible, but I only did so properly (and notified selfbuilt of the possible error, which turned out to be true) after the final shipping version review.

It turns out that the efficiency figures are more like 150-160 lm/w, which whilst not so incredible (literally) are still very impressive, as are many other aspects of this light.

I dont get it? 4 mins on turbo and cells @50% is good?

Well not if you put it like that, but the cells aren’t down to 50%, there is a thermal step-down to stop the light from overheating due to its massive output for its size.

Anyway, can you name any other 4x 18650 LED light in this size range (or at all) that can even put out 5200 lumens? I consider that a show-off mode that’s there for very short usage in extreme situations. It isn’t in the main mode group anyway and if I need runtime then I won’t plan on using it at all, 2000 is enough for any close up area-lighting, which is what such a floody light is best for anyway.

My Skyray king does 2100 for about 80-90 minutes, so to almost match that output in a very tightly binned neutral tint for ~150 minutes is very impressive imo.

Now i noticed the runtime on high, its really good.

best price I have seen, by far!

Take a look over on “that other” flashlight forum.

Vinh Nguyen 54 is modding these gems, and the sales and responses in the MM15 sub-forum are self-explanatory!

(I DID order one, current boost/domes on. I have been waiting for a nuclear flooder.)

The price in this thread (OP) is outstanding!!! Thank you, hkequipment!

absolutely amazing how many of those vinh has sold!

(the output of the stock MM15 too tame for you?) I guess ‘nuclear’ is the key word. Have u received yours yet? What is the turbo output?

this deal is so tempting. If I already had the cells I would get it. What cells will u use?

MT-G2 P0

high CRI???

No

Be careful of the map police!!

I got an MM15vn.

Blinding is the best way to describe turbo mode. Just the sheer wall of light it it puts out is impressive. Most people are awed by throwers - when folks see the MM15vn’s output compared to my TK-75, they’re like, “Meh.” to the TK.

Turbo is supposed to be 6500L domes on. I got the Stage 1, domes on version as I wanted total flood.

Just ordered one. Couldn’t resist at this price.

Thanks hkequipment !!!

I just couldn’t resist with that price… sigh, I need to join Flashlight Anonymous soon.
Anybody want to join me?

I have heard it said “revealing your feeling is the beginning of healing.”

this will be a difficult one to pass on, my most difficult. I passed on the excellent Sunwayman D40A for $50, that wasn’t easy.

In lieu of this light I could easily get Mountain Electronics’ Supfire M6, for less than half the price! Not much difference?

I’ll go now….

s. hope you got your shelf back up, reinforced!

s. Got Vinnies e-mail update tonight: #6 or #7 beckoning?

Vinh Nguyen

I bought a MTN M6. The MM15vn is WAY more than twice the torch. It wasn’t cheap, but I really don’t regret this purchase.

Would Vinh be okay if I asked him about a mail list light, even though I’m not subscribed?

about purchasing a light from him? Don’t see why not. PM him, I have many times and he always answers. I have never purchased from him and probably won’t , but not because I don’t want all of his offerings.

Appreciate your comment on the M6 vs MM15. Was the M6 modded, option #2?

I have few M6s already, although it’s not modded with #2 , I did simple resistor mod and it’s bright enough, it’s just that I never have Niwalker light before… especially double MT-G2s in 1 light… not too mention excellent run time
Although I’m interested in Vinh’s MM15vn… but the price at HKequipment is hard to say no  , I already put 2 in my cart until I have to explain to my wife why I need 2 of them…

BTW… the shelves is up again and this time all the lights took 3 shelves :weary:

Top shelf is for “premium” and heavy modded lights, middle shelf is for ” regular and modded light” and bottom shelf is for EDC lights

My M6 was stock. I’m in the process of modding it, but it’s going slow.

The “way more than twice the torch” was more based on how I feel about the flashlight. I mean, amongst flashlight enthusiasts the M6 with 2000-2400L is nothing nowadays (how we are spoiled!). But the MM15 behaves really differently from most other lights out there, even aside from its 5200-6500L output. The very forward-mounted LEDs gives a bunch of spill, and the huge dies of the MT-G2s also contributes to spill. Most lights try to impress with a blinding hotspot - this thing will light up a 150 degree arc very brightly.

Also with all that, even non-flashaholics always comment about how it’s so small, how is it so bright? Every one of my other lights gets a, “That’s cool.” The MM15 gets a, “Holy crap!”

Oh, and DayLighter, if you can afford 2x MM15s, you need to get the MM15vn Stage 1. Unless you’re a highly skilled modder, Vinh’s labor costs are very well worth it to me.

The $50 premium I paid over retail got me a light that’s been modded with a high level of reassurance from a guy that from what I know backs his stuff completely.

And the issue with the turbo runtime? The factory rates the turbo runtime over an hour, whereas the MM15vn can only do a few minutes, but that’s the compromise you make. When you’re over 5K lumens, each additional hundred lumen block adds dearly to cost, complexity, and heat. But most everyone here knows this, I’m just rambling for the most part.

$260 is a lot for a flashlight. And I don’t regret it at all.

Good Day hkequipment,
