My smallest cheapest thrower.

Ah ok…kinda like the SolarStorm drivers/pill, the clicky is mounted 90 degrees on the board

True on the 17mm to 18mm…

Well…unless you have Eagle masters like Mattaus and others that can take a 17mm board and make it 15mm

Yep just like that, 90 degrees and right on the board. Not a bad design for what it is.

I have shaved down many a driver as well, it’s just that you can’t go too far with it.

Very nice mod, I like those small throwers a lot and they make the perfect EDC for me.

But hey, you should have asked for permission, you're moving into my exclusive territory (small cheap hotrod throwers):

16klux at 1 meter: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/20067

39 klux at 1 meter: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/21420

and at dx since today, for $5.66, also in black:

oooooh! I have the cheaper versions of your SpiderFire 16340 Ultrafire 602C running XP-G at 1400mA…Thru some 10degree TIR’s

Quite surprised at the light it throws!

That’s not bad at all.

Also cool mods, above. (Stay off my lawn)lol

I picked up one of these because of the side switch, and I intended it as a gift to be used with an alkaline AA. The one I got does not work with an alkaline AA, only 14500 lithium, and I let the seller know (which he didn’t). He then changed the listing. So as far as I know, 14500 only for the moment.

The Small Sun model is ZY-R802
Here is review from the

Highlights from review;
There is 120Hz PWM on low mode. This is easily noticeable and may bother PWM-sensitive users.
The initial light output on High was 191lm and ANSI-readings (OTF, after 30s) were:

- 150lm on High

  • 35lm on Low
    Measured throw was 5kcd / 140m

Amazing that 18650 was able to pull out 300 lumens and 25kcd with just a few mods.
I have the gold model from Yupard aff of aliexpress and was afraid to diesect it, now I know what to expect and will probably try.
I like the light stock and wish I had bought more than 1.
Thanks!
Keith

now thats awesome. never thought of owning a super small pocket thrower. might be a bit fun to have ….more like a toy. the hotspot must be real small huh?

It’s not a small of a hotspot as you would think just because the reflector is so small but it is very focused, still it has a lot of spill as well. I’m kinda blown away by how much light this thing puts out for only being 300 lumens. shocked would be more like it.

That’s cool.

I have one of the Mini Cree’s from Amazon that is $3 and change. It has a zoom in and out head on it. Its pretty darn good as a cheapo light to have in your drawer or glovebox.

I’d like to have one of these little nuclear powered throwers like this….how do I get one if I can’t mod them?

Nalajr

Build it yourself

A. UF-602C Host for XM-L/XR-E
B. 10 degree TIR
C. XM-L Reflector to XP-G Reflector Converter Adapters
D. Cree XP-G R5-1A 345LM 6700K White LED Emitter with 16mm Base or Cree XP-G2 R5-1A 458LM 6500-7000K LED Emitter
E. 4* AMC7135 2-Group 3/5 Modes LED Flashlight Driver (Nanjg 101-AK-A1) <- don’t want to push it too hard, they get HOT fast!
Then a couple good 16340 Li Ion batts…

Cool !

DX...

better order it today so you can get it by august

Get any more in to take picks of the internals?

Seems more people are posting these up

Just processed through Chicago. So knowing Chicago I would say sometime late next week.

18sixfifty looks like someone did a review for you

Interesting but quite neutered in stock mode ain’t it?

I gotta get me some of that silicon carbide stuff (that others have mentioned in potting driver mixes) and mix it in with some 30min epoxy and stuff the pill behind the star (give it a bit more meat to soak up the heat)
And/or some ultra-grey sensor safe RTV from autozone

Either way…that thin “pill” if you want to call it that definitely doesn’t look like it would wick heat away hardly at all

It’s a 14500 light only .
They are OK if it’s a wonderful light .
Stock it’s a waste of a good 14500.

Aargh!!
I can’t get the bezel off…
Is it screwed in at all?
:~

It unscrews it’s just a tough little bugger.
